Speedometer off by 2.5 mph

Anyone every realize that their speedo was off on their stock lightning? I checked mine today, it was off. Is there a way to correct this?

Do you really worry about 2.5MPH?

I have to agree with the above, be thankful it's only 2.5MPH as OEM gauges aren't the most accurate.

OEM speedos only need to be within 3% if I recall correctly. Also, to say it is "off by 2.5 MPH" is not an accurate statement because the amount that it is off by will change according to speed. Ie, at a true 5 MPH it won't read 7.5 MPH, where as at a true 65 MPH it *may* read 67.5 MPH.

also keep in mind do you have the OEM tires not some after thought and are they the correct size.I have seen tires that are the same size but rolling dia was off by almost .5 inch.and also keep in mind that as a tire wears it gets smaller so that will change the speedo.Be happy it is only off that amount. It will NEVER be correct for the life of the tire!Stan

I feel you guys, never thought it through. It is off to the negative, going 55, reading 52.5. No big deal though, thanks

The stock speedo sucks. Looking at the vehicle speed seen by the PCM and comparing that to GPS reveals the stock speedo's shortfall, nothing you can do about it.
