Question Direct-wire for Escort radar?

Just got my direct-wire power cord for my Escort 8500 and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I remember seeing another member's post of his install of the direct-wire but he didn't give any instructions. Were can I connect the power cord? Can I connect it in the overhead console? If so, how and where in the console?
Thanks

I just got my 8500 with the direct wire cord. I have mine mounted above the rear view mirror. I plan to splice it into the overhead console this weekend. Shouldn't be very hard. If you mount the 8500 near the dash, you should be able to splice in the power through fuse box.

Yeah, sorry I can't remember which wires I used other then it was two of the four corners... I was so excited when I got it to work that I put it all back together and forgot to document!

I can't remember either I think the black was ground and then the white orange stripe +12VDC? You guys need to quit falling victim to advertisement gimicks and buy the V1 www.valentineone.com Go to his site and follow the demo. Mike Valentine was the engineer at Cincinati radar (Escort) they would not release his new technology so he left and makes the V1 now. It tells you how many, where, and is user programable. I can't tell you haw many units our Corvette club has sold. Magnesium case no plastic. I went through a PAssport, Escort, Bel 925, 745STi, Cobra etc. The $400 is well worht the money, anything else is a video game. Sorry I am so passionate but I am so glad I finally found a detector worth running and want others to enjoy it too. Thanks
