Cool vette kill

Well I have had my L for about a year now and know how fast and fun to drive they are. But I was not expecting what happened on Friday night.

I was going home late from work on Friday night and saw ahead of me a new body style vette. Naturally I increased my speed to catch up to him. I approched him in the passing lane and gassed it a little when I passed. He quickly came along side of me. We slowed to about 50mph and he signaled to start the race. I jumped on it and quickly had a 2 car length lead on him by 90mph and was pulling away very slowly. At 90 I started to slow down to 50. The vette pulled along side of me again, he looked very mad. At this point he signaled for another race. Now I am a little ****ey and made sure he took off first. As his car lunged forward I hit the gas. I started to reel him in and by 90 I was more than a truck length ahead of him.

I knew these trucks were fast but was not expecting to win this race.

Gotta love these trucks!

I saw a red Convertable m6 vette for sale in the valley, sticker price, $56k. For truck-like performance? No thanks. Nice kill.

sprhck This was on the white horse pike coming out of Egg Harbor City going towards Elwood.

yellow00 I am not sure the year as I am not up on the small changes on the Vette each year. I know it was the new body style (had rounded rear and mufflers coming out the center.) Also the color was a beige metalic. The only thing I can think of is this Vette was an automatic.

I am not trying to stir up the Vette owners that are monitoring this list. I was very surprised and wanted to share my race with the people on this list.

Sounds like it was fun but,
although these trucks are great from 0 - 80, lets not fool ourselves with how well they are past 90.
If you'd stayed in it with him, the vette woulda been the Master in the 100 + relm.

ah, the stretch where it goes from 35-50(60) You should come down to aloe ave in galloway sometime behind lennox china. A lot of young kids (like me) use that stretch as a proving ground for mods.

Are you sure it wasn't a C3? I posted a while back about my friend and I that pulled big time on 2 12.xxx Lightings on the interstate. From a 40mph roll, it was no contest. I admitted that the Lighting is simply awesome in red light racing, but not from a roll. My best time at Beech Bend is a 13.375 @ 106.7. The automatic wouldn't have made that much of a difference around 90mph.....

I raced a 01 vett 3-4 weeks ago from 20 to 100 on Kellersprings and he was in my blind spot the whole way.

At the next intersection I rolled my window down and he was beating his steering wheel? He rolled down his window and asked what in the world I had done to my truck and told him it was stock. Thats when I asked him what year his vett was and he said it was a 01, I did notice it had paper plates on it.

I made a right and a cop was sitting right there, boy I was really lucky that morning.

I kind of lied to the guy I was chipped and ram aired. If the vett had 3000 miles on it I probably would not even tell this story.

From what I've seen the vetts are always easy, it's those Transam's that everyone mods.

Read my sig to see what my future mods are. The Z06 comes with a 385 HP 350 and a 6 speed tranny. Put a s/c on it and it will haul ****. My dad has a 84 auto vette. Drove it once. My truck could probably beat it. Auto trannies don't belong in sport cars.

Going to add headers.

Future mods: Supercharger, headers, NOS, tranny upgrade(heavy duty gears, clutch packs, etc.), performance torque converter, composite driveshaft, bore engine 30 over, new pistons, crank, and rods, performance heads, new L if they still make them and I like the way it looks, and a Z06 Vette or BMW Z3.
