Post Intercooler

My Intercooler is not currently leaking aproching 10,000 miles But I am thinking about puting in a bottle of bars leak so that if I do get a leak hopefully it will seal it while it is small. Any thoughts and will it harm the pump or anything? Thanks

I'm no expert but I'm planning on doing the same thing myself. I don't think that it would hurt anything, given that the Stop Leak is designed for cooling systems.

Just be sure to use no more than a 1/3 of a bottle, and SHAKE WELL And also be sure NOT to use Bar's leak with the pellets...someone did, and ran into tons of problems...

is the bars stop leak a liquid or powder?

all i can find is the "alumaseal" brand..
its a small tube with silver powder in it.
all the other kinds have rabbit pellets in it. ugh!
since the intercooler is aluminum, would this alumaseal stuff work better?

forget it.. i just found some JB Weld. i'll patch it up in a jiffy!

It's a liquid in a small gray bottle. I see it every where for 1.99 a bottle. PEP-Boys,Advanced Auto Parts, Auto Zone, and NAPA all carry it here in DE.

You'l find it, that JB weld might be a little extreme LOL

I mentioned Bars Leak to my tranny mechanic and he advised me to use GB cooling system sealer. Said it would not hurt the motor. Added a can and it stopped the leak right away, and I had a bad, bad leak. Don't see how any of it could have got in the motor cause the reservoir didn't go down at all. I recommend this product over the Bars Leak.

I would like to by a 2001 model. Have any of you heard of problems with the 2001 intercooler. Did they really fix it?

Why yes they did!! They fixed it so you wont need one till you hit 15k miles. The reason no 2001s dont have any leaks yet is because they are all low miles so far!!
