Post Question for the tuners/experts

After seeing the improvements that can be made to these trucks (pulley upgrades, ram air, filter kits all of which supposedly increase boost, exhaust upgrades, electric fan upgrades, etc. etc.) when does it get to the point that the factory injectors max out? I've learned quite a bit from the 4.6DOHC side of blowers, nitrous, etc. and know that the duty cycle can be reached fairly quickly with power adders. When is the case with the factory injectors? Is there a possiblity of running lean when spraying 100shot on top of a vehicle with all the above mods?

Just trying to learn alittle about my new ride.

With a "wet" nitrous system you could control the fuel with simply changing a jet. But of course as you may know, your fuel pumps need to be in good shape and supply the needed volume. Fortunetly we are blessed with 2 in-tank pumps in the Lightning's

As for the injectors..I am not too sure what king of HP numbers they are capable of flowing, I bet Sal would be able to tell us.

I know of one case where someone ran lean with a "Dry" system. You run into problems there because if you run higher than normal bottle pressure's, you'll have a problem running lean. Hope this helps...

Mostly all of the current mods for these trucks will work fine with the stock 42s. The only problem I can see the stock injectors not being enough, is for large dry system nitrous set ups. All the engine failures I've seen so far related to nitrous, are on dry systems, where the extra fuel goes through the injectors. Even though I add more fuel in for dry systems on my chips, I feel that shots of 100hp and higher are pushing it for then needed fuel. Most people have actually switched to wet systems, and I have not heard of any problems related to them concerning lack of fuel. Hope this helps.

The "WET"one Baby... The same one your going to be buying LOL
I look forward to running a 150 shot with stock pulley configuration to see what she will do... I bet 120 mph is not out of reach with my 15 inch wheels and tall 28.2 ET STREETS Then I will install the PSP pulley and run a smaller shot for obvious reasons.

KILLA', BrianK took some cool photos of the nitrous install. Rudy R. did the install, and it shows.. You could see him featured in the new issue of MM&FF with his former employer. You going to the WFC4??

Sal, thanks for the response. Maybe this will be of some use to the other guys. What is the approximate duty cycle for the stock injectors on a truck making ~400rwhp. From my experience, 42lber's are good for ~500rwhp on the DOHC with a 15% drive line lose (~590 flywheel hp). If a truck is making 400rwhp, using 23% loses for the auto this equates to ~520 flywheel hp. Of course these are estimates but I'm also assuming that the fuel pumps can flow that amount. Can they?

If they will, Ford put a very oversized fuel system in these trucks for stock use (a good thing )!

I may be wrong...but I think FORD installed twin 155 lph pumps in our trucks. Easily upgraded to 190 or larger. They are the same found in Mustangs, so price would be very affordable for an upgrade.
It there is a problem, I wouldn't think it be the injectors..but rather the fuel rails. Can they support the extra fuel demand??
