Got my 2001 Lightning!!
I just got my black 2001 L today and I have already put 230 miles on it. I have to admit it is hard not to drive it hard. I want to break it in right but I just cant help myself. I also have already raced to poeple. One was a firebird(maybe TA) that i saw when i was driving on the highway with my friends. He was in front of me and so i pass him to see if he wanted to run me. Then i slowed down and then he cought up to me and then we both just flored it. There was a little bit of trafic but we didn't care. We just passed everyone and finaly we got a clear strait away and he was 3-4 cars behind me the whole time. I got up to about 128+ then i had to slow down because there was just to much trafic in front of us. The other race was on my way to my friends work from the "midnight races" and a 5.0 mustang was in the left lane and i passed him to see if another person wanted to lose to the L. At first he didn't even move. Then when i was not paying any attention my friend in the bed said "In comeing" and i was like what are you talking about. Then the 5.0 and me where side by side and he down shifted and floored it and my dumbass waited to floor it and he was in front me the whole time after that and then we both had to slam on are breaks because of a red light and he didn't stop in time and had to go through it going about 135+ and almost hit an car in his lane. Thank god for the good brakes on this thing. After about 10 min i see him again and i get next to him and talk about what just happend and every other second he says how much he loves my truck. He was superchared too. I didn't win that one. I know i would have been better off if i had just flored it when he did.
PS: im sure that i made many spelling errors but hey its 3:07 in the mourning and im dog tired.

Lack of self control and EXTREMELY dangerous near misses like these play a major role in Higher insurance premiums, not to mention giving high performance vehicle owners a bad perception. A sincere word of advise: "Save this driving behavior for the drag strip"...under controled conditions Please! (maybe you'll get THE chance to misspell another post here on the best forum in the west!)
Sincerely!
J.

I know that I was driving like an idiot. But if I knew where a dragstrip was I would have gone. Does anyone know of one near Austin Tx? Oh and it was not me who had the near miss. It was the mustang driver and we all know that 5.0 mustnags have crapy brakes. I made the stop but he didn't. I know im going to get **** for saying this but im a good driver and can handle my truck.

Oh yeah its all my fault that you can't afford insurance in Texas. BS! I have never been in a wreck ever. Have you? I drive the speed limit must of the time. Just once every now and then I like to drive fast. Thats why I got the Lightning. If you where with me you would not thank I was so crazy. Can't you all just be happy for me. I know im happy for all other L owners. I take great care of my cars/tucks/lightnings. My truck that I traded in had 100,005 miles on it and was a 92 F-150 and looked like a 96. Must poeple thought it was brand new. I also drive that fast from time to time. Ok on to a new subject.

kick a** driving. I dont think you will hurt much letting your truck stretch its legs out a little. Where did you get your truck? I got mine at Leif Johnson.. Mine is number 32... You should take me for a spin in yours so I can compare our two trucks, I think I might have a hp problem. dont let theses elderly posters get you down, they are just jealous chickens.

Hey I got mine at Leif Johnson also(still the leader)! Hmmm HP problem. What makes you think that you have a HP problem? Some times I look at my speedo and it doesn't feel like im going as fast as it reads. 100 feels like 70 to me. How many miles do you have on it?
Man I do need to proof read.
Ok im never going to tell about my fast driveing again. I don't want to make us texans look bad.

Big Red,
128+ under 500 miles? Dude! I hope this is a lease! LOL. Your L might not last a long as your '92.
Have a nice day.
