Thumbs up

I went with the 12468 Magnaflow and it is bitchen! Sounds great, and has a built in x-pipe. I had my guy cut off the tips on the muffler and weld the pipes onto it.

I have two flowmasters on my 99 L. they are the three chamber ones.. I just welded them in. Any muffler shop can do it for you. they sound great. I am having the cats taken off and a h-pipe put on this week. My truck runs 13.50s with a 80mm pro-m and the flowmasters.

You WILL lose performance removing the cats. Check your boost pressure before and after.

Question

I have talked with two L owners who have faster times at the track with the cats removed. I have seen them first hand. If I go slower I will put them back on, But they sound good with out the cats.

i put 2 flowmaster 40 series with delta technology on mine and am very happy.sounds great outside and not too loud on the inside.as far as removing the cats, yes you will loose low end IF you dont get a differant chip.its no differant than it was 25 years ago when when i used to race with a supercharged mustang.more air means more fuel which meant bigger jets. today its bigger injectors if needed, and a chip to tell the computer whats going on.if you dont think convertors are restrictive take a pipe with a convertor on it and pour a gallon of water through it.then take the convertor out and do it again and see what you get.it all boils down to tuning the whole combination to get the most out of it.just my 2 cents worth.

GP your comparison is not accurate. Gasses and liquides do not flow the same. Liquids have much more resistance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but more PSI doesn't always mean more HP. I.E.- I was making over 10psi of boost with my S-trim on my mustang with stock heads. When I went to trick flow heads, my PSI decreased but I had a hell of a lot more HP....just a thought.

And you've just had a third person who told you slower times. Tested with a constant, a friend with another "L" with no other mods done. Beat him consistantly with the cats, lost to him consistantly without them. If the 2 you talked to had nothing to compare it to something as simple as weather or track prep could account for their faster times.

Post Flowmaster Muffler Install

Has anyone installed a flowmaster muffler on their "L?" If so, what part # did you use and did it weld/bolt right up? I'm wanting to make mine sound a little more beefier...but I have always loved the flowmaster sound. Thanks
