For the '99 L has anyone tested the old trans fluid to see if it was mercon or mecon 4? I replaced just the trans fluid about 3000 miles ago with mercon 4 and have had idle and 40-50 mph vibrations. The Ford manual says to go off the dipstick and the dipstick says mercon but I was reading that the 99-00 use mercon 4 so that was what I bought. Any response would be great.

Go by the stick. I put mercon back in mine and have not had any problems since.

You'll need to drain the converter also.

Is it hard to change torque converter fluid or does the truck have a bolt for easy removal of the fluid? Thanks for the quick response.
