Kind of babied it until I took it through it's 1000 mile birthday at 100 mph.

bahahhaha, thats awesome!

i don't really care much about the tire spinning issue and agree with those who stated that its a good thing. my main point of concern was seeing the various mustang owners saying their 01 L felt SLOWER than their stock GT or cobra. thats not good.

I have a silver 2001 with 500 miles on it. It does spin the tires from a dead stop, but nothing like my 2000 with a C&F did. I am VERY happy with the times I ran last Friday at a REAL track(not G-Tech)see sig

It's the simple misconception that a fast car must smoke the tires. Gentlemen the days of muscle car's with tiny poly-glass tires are gone. Tire technology has improved significantly. Combine this with 4800lbs and a high center of gravity and you get good launches.

1.9X 60' times on radials is insanely good!

My 01 has a little over 2K miles and like I've said elsewhere it continues to get stronger. I can lay down rubber very easily and at wot will burn some at the 2nd shift too. I also agree with Don C - you won't hear these tires make noise, you just feel your rear end shift.
....... And this is before I installed my splitfires last night - WOW
Talk about a different truck! I HIGHLY recommended these plugs, the throttle response is night and day. After the install last night I was taking it for a test drive and a guy in a high end bimmer (like a 540) tries to take me from a red light, he shoots off the line and I wasn't expecting a race so as a reaction I drop the hammer about 3/4 throttle and melt my rears. I was like "whoa big fella" , regained my composure, and handed that guy a healthy portion of his a$$ smothered in Grey Poupon.
It almost seems like my old plugs were bad judging by the gains I got from the splitfires, I would be interested to see how one of your trucks run after a set just to see if it's just my truck. The install took me about 4 hours and I lost some hand skin but is SOOOOO worth it. I would like to thank Chuck (LTNBOLT) at http://home.midsouth.rr.com/lightningpage/ for documentation on this. Even with all of his help it still took me 4 hours to do thanks to those fun little things like dropping screws in hard to reach areas or having the rubber spark plug boot come loose from the spark plug socket and stick to the plug. The one thing I'll add to his documentation is to have 2 5/8" sockets, one being the spark plug kind with the rubber boot inside and the other being just a normal deep socket kind. Use the one with the rubber boot to take the old plugs out and use the one without a boot to put the new ones in. This will keep your socket from sticking to the plug when your done tightening it, there's no room to reach down there and pull it off the plug if your extension disconnects before the socket comes off the plug. Which it will every time, believe me! If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me at DJANIMATE@AOL.COM

I have to admit, I was disappointed when I test drove my future L. I expected a lot more from it. However, I now feel my initial expectations were unrealistic, which is why I own the truck. You have to understand, after riding sportbikes, hardly any four-wheeler will seem fast. However, I find myself wishing I was getting in my L for the commute home instead of hopping on my bike... A strange phenomena that's never happened before. (Shhh, don't tell any of my biker buddies!!!)

It's definitely not as fast as my snake.
But it does OK for a truck.

Seems plenty fast enough for me!!! Don't want to spin the tires, like to get it rolling, and then punch it. Seems kind of a waste to be leaving all that rubber on the road.

my modded 2k GT still feels faster... I think its the manual shifting so I dont know... Im going to take it and get it dyno tested and I have a really wierd idea I want to try to squeeze some non-chipped HP out of it, so Ill see what happens.

My Black 01 has 3100 miles on it now. I believe that it has gotten a lot stronger. From a stand it will spin the tires pretty well. (Not that i would ever do such a thing )

My buddy has a Black 99 that has mods and I believe he dynoed at 360 rwhp. Im pretty sure his truck is faster but I can hang with him pretty well and my truck is stock.

First, I put down all three windows so I can feel the acceleration.

Then I put my foot in it.

Then my ***** swell up...

My truck felt pretty fast but had trouble spinning the tires at first. Everybody likes to hook up, but it's nice to know you can lay some rubber, especially for those watching. anyway for the past two day's i have been flooring my truck more often, looking for a leak. now my truck feels much faster, and spins the tires like mad when i floor her. brings a smile to my face!

Damn, I only have 225 miles on my truck. Have a car that i drive back and forth to work. And now that Iam working 7 days, no time to play, but I did send out two payments this week and the first payment isn't due till 5/08. I have a new ram-air sitting on the kitchen floor just waiting to meet its new truck! Its only a matter of time, and yes my old 99 with chip/filter will smoke my new truck!
