Post Anyone with the R9 Superchip

Is anyone else having problems with the R9 causing the truck to miss while cruising around 40-45 mph. Other than that, the R9 works great !

I'll bet you lunch, the miss is there even with the chip out.

Had the exact same issue recently. Had the plugs replaced and the miss is gone. Smooth with or without the chip again.

Redrocket, I bet it's the factory plugs because mine does the exact same thing. I will have NGK 4177's put in this week, so I will know for sure then.

Nope. I took the chip out and the miss goes away. Put the chip back in and the miss is back. Hate to send it back because besides the miss at around 40mph when cruising, the truck run great !

Just for the record,Alot of our trucks do this with a chip.I do not think it is the chip because i know of Swansons, and superchips that do it.Mine does it only when a chip is installed but Im willing to bet that it is there without the chip but the chip brings it out more.Im betting on plugs too.

The miss is caused by a lean spot because of the EGR opening at around that time,The tuners lean the truck down just a little to get better HP and crisper throttle response, but not so lean as to hurt the engine. If you unplug the EGR vac hose and the "miss" goes away then that will tell you. But be warned that if it is left unplugged to long the ck engine lite will come on!!!Stan

I notice the miss on side 2 of a R9. Side one on my 99 is something like CUX1R9, side 2 is labeled CUX1TRAX9. I am still unsure what side is truely the R9 version everyone else is running. Side 2 also will not let the tranny shift into OD until about 50 mph. Between the area where it normally shifts (side one 40 and side 2 50) at light throttle is where I notice the miss. I now only run side 2 at the track full throttle (no miss) since I believe it to be how lean the program is at this point under light loads. Side 1 is still a major improvement over stock. No pinging on either side. Side one seems to be a perfect street program. I have spun into 3rd from a standstill when it was cold out. Latest time at almost 3000 elevation is 13.62 at 101.3 with airaid and new ET Streets with no conditioning 2.05 60' (need to practice I know).

I am running mine on side 2 as well. I wonder if I am hurting the truck by running on side 2 all the time?
