Hello all..

I have run several other vehicles with chips ( and a whole lot more ).. some required a bit more to be modified if you wanted it to last.. Most cars have a weak link..

Cyclone/Typhone owners know about trany woes.. With a few mods the truck would run 12's.. but it might also leave the trany sitting at the line..

My Buick ( 87 Grand National ) ran really hard with just blot-ons.. but I knew with each pass I was flirting with trany failure..

Solution.. performance rebuild..

Better clutches, bands.. etc..

This is the price we pay to go fast..

To chip or Not to chip? I have a 1989 Toyota Supra Turbo automatic with a full additional computer from HKS. That fully adjustable unit, plus everything else to take it to Stage III (which includes the turbo maxing at 16lbs. boost, a full 10lbs. over factory settings). Today that car has 125,000 miles on it and just now the turbo seals are beginning to weep. Same transmission etc. I go through this to point out that if the manufacturer puts the stuff together right, most normal bolt-ons will reduce the life of the engine and/or drive train marginally. Getting past bolt- on items (which include Nitrous) will decrease life somewhat greater. We should expect and demand no more or less from Ford with these wonderful, but in some cases touchy trucks.

I just added the 90mm MAF kit from JDM which included a reburn for my Superchip. I took out the Airaid filter and box as a unit and stored it way with the stock box. A very easy intallation with no problems whatsoever. I didn't even take out the computer for the chip reinstallation. I just stood on my head and slipped it up in place. If you bend flat the holder box this is a very easy thing to accomplish and saves pulling out the brains too many times. I have been very pleased with their service and continue patient regarding the lower pulley problems. The kit is well designed and everything fits! The rest of the g -fast changes I have are Borla cat backs for tip looks and sound and JBA shorty headers.

Truck runs great, no intercooler problems yet (14,000 miles on a very early 1999), but really expect that to happen any day. I have been running two bottles of Water Wetter with most of the coolant flushed.
