Dead spot / delay at WOT
Now that I have a few miles on the L, I have been to WOT a few times. When I floor it, I get a dead spot / hesitation / delay for about 1/2 a second. It seems like I lift my foot off the gas pedal and just floor it again right away. It does this while the pedal is on the floor. Anyone know what this is? Anyone even heard of this? I did a search but maybe I was using the wrong key words because I did not find anything. I saw alot of threads on engine missing, but it is not missing, just a slight delay.

I presume you are talking about flooring it when you are moving at, say, 40 mph or above, and not from a dead stop?! If you're talking about from a dead stop, yes you have a problem. If you are talking about from a reasonable speed, then it has to do with the torque converter lock-up or something. Not exactly sure how it works, but it's normal.

Actually, it does it from a roll. I am not sure if it does it from a dead stop. I will have to try it and see. It just seems like this delay would kill a few tenth's in the 1/4 mile run. The thing is, it don't do it all the time!
I noticed this on mine trying to leave from an idle at the track. It wasn't 1/2 sec though, just a slight hesitation if I floor it. It only does it from an idle. If I torque it up a little, it doesn't do it.
No, this is not a gear "thinking" thing. It happens mid way through second gear....no where near the point of shifting into third. As for the 1/2 second thing.....maybe it is more like 1/4 second.
I'm more familiar with the EEC-IV and EEC-V processors in the late model Mustangs, but if its doing it while in one gear (thus, not a hesitation caused by a downshift, etc.) then you might possibly have a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor).
These are the symptoms when one is going bad. Most of the time this will not occur on a new vehicle, but its just a simple sensor, and might be worth checking into.

My '01 does the same thing. I think What04 has the right answer, judging from some other threads I've read here.
