Question '01 'L' engine in my normal F150?

Need some help. Lets say - hypothetically - there is a totalled '01 L that I know of that the engine appears to be in good shape. And lets say, I am able to get the engine.

Would you guyz think I would be able to stuff this thing in my '99 F150 and possibly get it to work?

Think my transmission is the same? Rear end? Other issues? Legal? (replacing a 5.4 with a 5.4 should satisfy the legal requirement).

Again, this is not a real scenario, I'm just wondering. I can normally find the cars/trucks that have been totalled within our area, and I might start looking for "that" L.

P.S. Outa respect you "L" owners, I will not badge it if I do it. I'll keep it "the sleeper" for unsuspecting Shovies and R/T's.

Unfortunately murfster, there's a lot more to the L drivetrain than what's in your F150. In general, if you greatly increase the output of an engine (or swap engines for a more powerful one), you'll need to do a whole host of other mods to the car so it can handle the extra power. Massive snowball effect, not recommended unless you're a hardcore "hobbyist" who wants to do all that work.

Ditto felonious,
things like that end up costing as much or more than if a guy were to hypothetically just go out and buy a 2001!
