Question Dyno chip for my truck ?

With all the discussion about chips on here it got me to thinking. Would I be better off finding a shop that could make a chip with my truck on the dyno ? I would figure this to be the best option since the operator could see my A/F ratios and all other paramaters in real time. I would like the performance that a chip could offer but am leary of the whole ad game when it comes to chips. I would just feel better knowing what it is doing on my truck instead of some generic values that work on them all. Any shops doing custom chips in the Alabama or surrounding areas ? Let me hear your opinion on the subject.

John, I am going to comment on your post just with some advice, not as a vendor trying to sell you anything. The best thing you can do is get your truck dyno tuned, based on actual A/F and other data. This kind of tune will give you maximum power, with a safe tune. Most chips out there nowadays are tuned for great overall performance, but nothing like a good dyno tune But you have to understand that not all dyno shops are equal in thier abilities. Lightnings are not Mustangs or any other kind of car. Just because a shop dyno tunes your truck, does not mean you've got the best chip. Do some research on your local shops before you spend the money for a dyno tune that can leave you wanting more...

Sal,
Thanks for taking the time to answer my post. I was thinking the dyno tune would be the best bet especially since I want some things left off of the chip. I am going to install a level 10 shift kit to take care of the transmission so I will not need any transmission line pressure changes in the chip. I still want to retain the cylinder cut during shifts just for driveline concerns. Plus a few other things here and there. I mainly want the chip to provide the best A/F and spark curves for the truck. This truck is not a all out every last horsepower project for me. I just want to improve on what Ford gave me a little bit. I still own a few big block Oldsmobiles that can do a wheel stand if I feel the need. I was going to contact a few of the shops that have done good work for me in the past like HESCO and see what shops they said were good. I try to investigate these things as best as I can. If you have any shops you think are up to the task please let me know.
