Post Ready for the boneyard

the old 98's lease is up next month, and the dealer asked about getting my new car on order. i told him i had a deposit on a M3. he said, GREAT CAR, your lucky to get one. he also said the dealership put a TRD blower on an IS300 that makes a little over 300hp and makes that little lexus fly. said it costs about 4K installed and is fully warrented. although it won't be anything like the new M3, it would probably be about 15K less!! this really has me thinking hard. everytime i get away from completely troublefree japanese vehicles, for other brands , i end up shooting myself in the foot.

Don't forget about the M3's handling vs. the Lexus. While the hp may be assisted by the s/c on the Lexus, it doesn't have anything approaching the M3's chassis build strength and latest gen suspension including new torque-biasing diff.

No comparison as far as I'm concerned, M3 hands down (can you imagine what the M3 chipped will be like!).

Oz

p.s. I wouldn't be too worried about the reliablity of the M3 either.

NOT TRUE!!!!BMW has ALWAYS had cooling problems. They spend the BIG bucks on a cheap plastic water pump impeller, which WILL break. They've always had an overheating problem (even M3's).
However you cannot compare the 2 cars, its like comparing the L against a Xtreme. Two totally different vehicles. If you can muster the cash...M3 daily driver, cause you wont get out of it.

Didn't drive the M3, but did drive the 330 series before falling in love with the IS300.
What a piece of crap. Couldn't wait for the test-drive to be over with.
Still don't understand the German's take on luxury, I guess....

Oh, yeah. They were taking bids on the only M3 in the place. Best offer over $55,000?

Just ordered a 330i to hold me over until the 02 M3 gets here. The 330 should be here the first of June. The 02 M3 will have the 6-speed sequential trans. Padle shift on the wheel.

If I had your money BBQ I'd keep the Lexus and supercharge it. That would be so SWEET! You would really surprise some people with that setup!

Cool

MRBBQMAN

I know you value my opinion cause like we were conjoined twins in another life or something...., but that Lexus would be the bomb with a TURD blower.

Bank the $15K and wait for the 1800cc Valkyrie to come out in a couple of years.
