DJM Control Arms (pics)
DJM Control Arms (pics)
I need them that is. Im in the midst of bagging my truck and might have a problem although I think it may be solved. On the drivers side the spindle was hitting DJM control arm when turning towards the left. I used the search and through installed pics they all looked similar as far as the space available for turning. So maybe, even though it hits when barely turned, this is right? If anyone has or can direct me to some pics of DJM control arms UNINSTALLED it would help me out hugely. thanks
Do a Google image search for "djm f150 control arms"
The first hit (on streetkill.com) is a picture of one of the two sets I've owned. The other was identical.
Here is the DJM stock photo.

Here is what mine looks like:

If you look on this next one, you will see that the spindle will hit the control arm in a short distance and it appears I would not be able to make a left turn:

Here are some better pics. This is the control arm (Is it right?):

Here is are a couple of pics showing the stock Spindle turned as far as it can to the left (drivers side) and hitting the DJM Control Arm (Shouldn't it go further?):

I see nothing wrong in the installed photo.
Are the ball joint nuts tightened?
Would the interference still be there at ride height? In the last photo, your suspension is at an angle that you will never see on the road.
The spindle will contact the LCA as a stop. If you look at the pictures of my old set, you can see the dent that the spindle works into the LCA.

Wait a minute -- are those Belltech spindles? If so, all bets are off, and my best prediction is that you will be spending some quality time with your grinder.

Thanks Tim. I was starting to think this was right after seeing a pic on your site displaying your setup w/brakes and it appeared to have the same amount of turning radius as mine. I mentioned to the installers today that I was starting to think that it was right and they disagreed stating it would take an entire field to turn it like that.
The ones installed are actually stockers, although I do have some Belltech Spindles that are/were going to go on. They were also tried and still hit in the same spot on the control arm just like the stockers.

The control arms look normal. The spindles are normal. It has to work.
