Post 2001 Dyno Results

355.1 RWHP
418.9 ft/lbs Torque
DYNOJET 248C; 950msl 70F 47%RH
Bone Stock w/1280 miles

Chip N'Filter - Conservative program did not produce full potential. New Program will be on its way next week; should be closer to 400 than 390 I'm hoping. I'll let everyone know.

If you put a chip and filter and that dyno says that you're making ~400RWHP good for you. With that exact setup you should pull 12.5 in the 1/4 if not I wouldn't trust those dyno numbers very much.

IMO dynos are great for comparing one mod to another the same day on the same dyno.

I haven't tried it, but I expect that if you where to strap your truck down pull a run, back the truck off put it back on and pull another run it would be off a little, who knows how much? Try it again this time change the air pressure 5 psi in your tires. There's just so too mamy varables to consider.

I know somebody that makes 40 more RWHP than I do and he's not any quicker than I am. This doesn't tell me that he's a lier it just means that it wouldn't do me any good to use his dynoer, no mater how much I currently dislike mine.

Good luck

NFS, can you clarify a few things about your post, I'm a little confused. Your posted numbers seem close to stock numbers for an 01 (I'm am assuming you have an 01). Were those number with the listed chip and filter, and if so, can you post the baseline numbers? Also, what else are you doing to the truck that you are estimating getting 400rwhp out of it next time? Thanks for the info..

Sal, in the topic he said it was a 2001 and I'm not positive beacuse of the latter part in his post, but I believe that the numbers are in stock form.

I hear what you are saying on dyno vs. track. I am using it for comparison of modificaions.

Sal- 2001 totally stock. Chip N'filter were installed and I got 376/439. Nice curves but I was expecting more power. Talked to the tuner and he will be sending me a new program next week. The one I had was his "California" program; very early, very safe A/F around 11 I think. Next one will hopefully be worth another 20hp. Jim (JDM) said he just did an 01 with the program that based at 348 and ended up with 396. Just a chip and filter.

The dyno will tell the story. Problem with tracks are all the variables, not the least of which would be my driving skills or lack thereof! I will be new to the track and am looking forward to learning.

Next mods will be TB and Pulley. Long tube headers & siamesed dual exhaust are on the way...Thanks Lightning Performance. MSD stacker ignition whenever available.

I would like to thank JDM for their great service so far. I know there are others like them out there that also do good things for our L's.

I will scan the dyno sheets when I can get to a scanner and keep posting my runs after mods are completed. Its the only way for us to keep learning about these motors.

NFS, thanks for the info. Those number are good for a stock 01. Looks like you've got a strong truck there. Your chip and filter number are decent as well, especially for a conservative tune. As far as going from 348 to 396 with just a chip and filter, well, I'd have to see that for myself, that's almost 50hp at the rear wheels. I'm not saying that a chip can't do that, but the stock 01 calibration is already "tuned" a bit from Ford. Think of it as coming with a half a chip . Part of what tuners do to get such great results on these trucks is already done by Ford. There is not as much room for improvement as the 99-00s. Just keep that in the back of your mind in case your truck doesn't pull the numbers you'd like to see with the new chip.

Sal thanks for clarifying that. I figured Ford wouldn't be as conservative this time around. By the way check your email. Thanks Mike
