Turns out I have scraps all on the underside of the fog light setup too. When I was getting my oil changed they mechanic let me look around and it's all scrapped up. I figured that's just one thing I will have to deal with and get it repainted yearly. Oh well. All for love...

I was looking at mine when I washed her the other day...She'll be 2 on August 13 and still no scrapes, which is why my baby brother will never drive her.

I've only let two of my closest friends drive mine, and I've been in the truck with them. I figured it was just assumed that you "dont let anyone drive your L!!" I've laughed at other people when they ask...

When I get mine my dad won't even be allowed to drive it!! my wife will be extremely lucky, but she will never get the chance to drive alone. I won't trust anyone with my baby.

My wife has never driven it, and probably never will. She realizes that it just isn't worth the risk. Even a "divine act" like a bird to the windshield would be damn near unforgivable. I have let her back it out of the garage, but with a strict "no throttle" restriction in force.

I have to admit I let my cousin from Denmark (the home of the 1-liter environmentally-friendly econobox) romp on it once under direct supervision. Other than that, it's the passenger seat for all interested parties.

My 15 year-old son just got his learners permit a couple of weeks ago. After two weeks in my '94 Olds, he was doing really well, so I let him drive the L on Friday.

I was white-knuckled, but he did great. His confidence in himself went up about 100% in one drive.

I hope he doesn't think he'll ever drive it if I'm not in the seat next to him, though

BadDog,

I have been teaching Lightning Boy to drive for the last year. He also did well starting off in the TBird, so I let him drive the L.

I have found that he loves the Beast so much he won't dare take any chances doing something I wouldn't approve of, hoping of course, that I'll let him drive it by himself one day (yeah right!). I'm thinking that by letting him drive the L, he's actually a better driver for the excercise.

All that not-withstanding, it still ain't worth the hair loss/gray hair (whats left of it)!

That's not fair to say....some of us are better drivers than the actual owners, and we take care of it more, because we're worried about any permanent damage to the poor babies.

I let my 12 year old daughter do a burn out in the K-mart parking lot with my chipNfiltered 99 L. I think she liked it more than I did, but her mom wasn't to pleased about it! I'll have to think long and hard before she gets to do it again in the new one. Maybe it would be a good birthday present though.
