Angry Fog Lamps Cracked...

Yep..guess I'm the first 01' to report this....yay me...hooo rahhhh. Anyways, a friend pointed them out to me...not surprised. "Built Ford Tough" you know. I still love the truck. Just means tomorrow I have the pleasure of waking up early, going to my dealer, and having them replace both fogs, and my passenger sides window motor (it won't roll down). You can completly tell they aren't from rocks....and it has been raining here lately..and yes, I tend to drive with them on all the time... Thanks for letting me whine to you...later

I just looked and both of mine are cracked. I ran them in rain & snow also. I have a rear taillight that showed signs of leakage when I picked up the truck new. It still has condensation in it. I have a few things to replace I guess.

What do you think caused them to crack?

One of mine is cracked to, but I live in Texas, couldn't be the cold that did it to mine. I don't remember hitting anything though. Have you got a price on them?

It's usually the cold weather, and the heat from the lamps. Sometimes it's rocks from the road... They saw mine, and said, it was heat cracks.. But the prices I got varied from $105-$150

Well, sorry to hear that, Marcus, but thanks for the heads up, I guess I won't be replacing my fogs with the '01 lamps now. Thought those polycarbonates were supposed to be bullet proof.

My new Hella's haven't cracked yet. I was going through OEM's. I don't know if you can get the clear 2001's in the aftermarket but you may want to check out the suppliers here:

I've been through 4 on the 99. My dealership is really good about replacing them. 90.00 for the kit.

yeah, to say the least, I was/am pretty ticked off about the fog lamps...and now theses??
I picked the worse of the two fogs to show you how they cracked on my L.

Here is the right rear lamp next to the LED brake lamp. Sorry about how fuzzy it is, I was shaking. It's supposed to show how there is condinsation in there. But the lens is not cracked. The water came in through the back of the plastic.
