<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">3.) Can oxygen sensor voltage be displayed as an air/fuel ratio?

A: No

Seems odd that the demo clearly shows the AF ratio in one of the sceeens

More Q&A:

1.) Can Autotap read more than just emission related DTC's?

AutoTap will retrieve whatever PCM data the manufacturers made available on
the OBDII data lines. We are getting data from the transmission as well as
the engine.

2.) Referring to the 2nd Air Charge Temp Sensor (Question 1 below), how can
I or you verify this?

The only way I am aware of is to try it and see.

3.) If the sensor is sending information to the OBD-II port will your
software/hardware be able to read it?

Only the PCM data as a rule.

3.) Can Autotap read all the DTC's that could possibly be thrown (Ref Q6)?
Meaning that there are not any codes that are vehicle specific that Autotap
might not be able to read due to software or hardware. Basically what is
Autotap missing that a Ford diagnostic reader wouldn't miss?

We are retrieving the engine/drivetrain data. They are probably able to
check chassis codes, ABS, etc.

4.) Are there any automatic transmission related codes?

Absolutely.

I have one and it will pay for itself quickly. I recently got the Service Engine Soon light. Pulled the codes and found the fuel filler cap had a bad seal.

Could I have taken it to the dealer? Sure. but that wastes a morning of productive work, requires an appointment to get a beater loaner car and I have the satisfaction of knowing what was wrong and that it was fixed. That and knowing what the problem is going in (if you really have to) gives you a leg up on the service writer.

I've also used it to log fuel trims vs maf voltage in order to tweak the Cobra's transfer function for driveability problems.

Very highly recommended tool.

Just one guys opinion though.

Hey guys, let me help clarify a few things about the AutoTap. You have to understand that Autotap only reads OBD-II related information. It cannot read any other PCM info other than what is used for OBD-II testing purposes. When you retrieve codes, you are getting Generic OBD-II codes, not Ford PCM codes. I'm not saying don't buy it, if you have the extra cash to buy one, go for it. It's fun to play with, and it can be useful. But I think that many of you are guessing you can buy a $250 program, and have the same features as a $2000 scanner, and this is not so. It's not really an optimum program for tuning purposes. But agian, it is useful. As for the extra parameters you guys are inquiring about, I don't think you'll be able to access them because they are not OBD-II related. And as for the knock sensor, our trucks do come with them, but they are not used from the factory. Hope this helps a bit.

Sal,

I think most of us are interested in autotap for clearing chip codes and for observing changes after modifications.

How do you clear all evidence that a chip was installed, including transmission codes? I understand the goop will be gone.

OK
Crazy question Sal. If I wanted a scanner that could access all of the Ford data what is it called and where do I look for more info ?

Sal you state,

But I think that many of you are guessing you can buy a $250 program, and have the same features as a $2000 scanner, and this is not so.

Does the scanner plug into the OBDII port? If so do you use a scanner to check an ailing transmission?

If it does, what kind of interface (protocol) does it use? Is it the same as the autotap?

Inquring hackers/programer want to know!

I'm pretty sure that I could create something useful in a week with the correct references.
