Billet Aluminum Flex Plates?
Has anyone here had experience using Aluminum Flex Plates on their cars or trucks?.
I found a company that will make a Billet Aluminum Flex plate for the 5.4L engine. The company has a good name.
They make them now for high hp Big block che*y engins and a few Ricer engines.
I was thinking of trying it when I change the Torque Converter! I know the bennefit is weight and getting the RPM's up faster. Don't know if they are reliable for long term use or just track. Any suggestions?

Yes I use a aluminum Flex plate on my 8 sec mustang It's made My Reactor. What do you think you'll gain by putting on on? You really don't need to change your flex plate until your running in the 10's or faster I could be wrong. at that point you need the flex plate to be SFI approved, you would also need an SFI approved trans shield and flywheel/flex plate shield. The bottom line is that your not going to gain anything my installing one, As I'm pretty sure that your not running the times that would require you to have one. I would recomend you save your self the money and spend it else where. Maybe on something that will make your truck faster.

Your gonna get a kick outa this. I'm working on some old 427/428 ford stuff and I happen to have 2 of the Reactor prod. billet aluminum flexplates. I weighed the stock steel 428CJ flexplate (6.5 lbs.) and the billet aluminum flexplate (7.5 lbs.) The aluminum wheel is about 3 times as thick as the steel wheel. go figure :-)

I give up what are you talking about? I can think of many ways to make a billet aluminum plate flex, but I guess I might not be addressing the soultion to the same problem as you?
