Steve i can see closing a thread when a vendor starts a new topic and promotes or tries to sell there products without your permission but closing that last thread made no sense to me because there was no selling of anykind going on just members giving there opinions on chips which i believe is of great importance to this Lightning Board.Do you realize this is innocent compared to the computer chip section on your site where that gets down right nasty with alot of flaming going on but no selling taking place and i never see threads closed over there and there shouldn't be.My suggestion to you let the topic's continue and if a individual gets out of hand in your opinion deal with them directly by e-mail or by posting on that post! I have read where people on the chips forumn totally are mean and unfair to Mike and use stronger words than on this Lightning board and never a closed thread,i just think we should be treated the same as the others! Please don't take this the wrong way either. Other than that you have a very professional run site with tons of information for everybody to learn from!

In my honest opinion, I think Steve has accepted the fact that he cannot watch for every post/advertisement about chips. Thats why he set aside the chip section.

I do not think very many Lightning owners go to other sections of this great site and research the other topics. Posting a thread here about chips could only benefit the chip makers that much more, since we are already bent enough on speed, that we will not hesitate to spend an extra $500 or so on chip mods.

This is why he set aside the chip forum, I think. I have a hard time wording things, so bear with me.

Come on guys. Steve made it clear in his post right after BadBolt's. Despite the fact that Inject-Tech came and went faster than a bag of Lays, IMO BadBolt's comment was a little too strong, direct, and vulgar for Steve's new found desire to control this board (a good thing ).

Users of chips (or any products for that matter) are free and encouraged to debate their merits, discuss their pros & cons and compare them to competition...that is what this site is here for.
Where we have run into problems is when the vendor of these products have jumped in, where they were not invited, to skew the conversation in their direction. Additionally, 90% of these threads deteriorated into immature name calling.

Why the closure? Was there immature name calling? A little but NeedforSpeed apologized after Doug intervened (very well done I might add). Was my comment about Hype-RTech inappropriate? maybe. if so, I regret submitting comments to that affect.

I realize there is a fine line that must be drawn but if foul play is involved, then they deserve a bit o torching. The last time Inject Tech was even mentioned (provided through this site's search feature) was last October by Topcat. Sal was the only vendor/tuner that posted on this thread and his comment in no way skewed the conversation in his direction.

It's your site and your rules. I enjoy being a member, contributing, and having fun. However, please help me/us understand the logic here.

Thanks

Robert

I've been running these boards for about three years now, longer than most of you have been around here. The last post in the thread is indicative of a direction that can only lead to negatism. While I don't see that I have to justify why I ever close a thread, suffice to say that that one was for an obvious reason based on my experience here.

Additionally, it is now time to close this one, as there is really no reason to debate it any further and its not going to be reopened.
