Lightning
Where can I find some detailed information on a L? My local SVT dealer just directed me to their web site where I could request a quote that would include information but that was four weeks ago and I still haven't received anything. I'm looking mainly for price and options.

Fadex..I can tell you one thing. As far as options go, you have colors Red(the fastest)Black, White, and Silver. That's about it. You could get a tonneau cover, but most people opt to choose thier own. Not really many options when you already looking at the worlds best truck. As far as pricing, just shop around. I live in a area with 2 SVT dealers within ten miles of each other. The price at one was $8,000 dollars more than the other. They also both had a Harley PU and the price difference on those were even more shocking....can you say $17,000. With all that said, you've made a fine choice. Don't hesitate just get one. Man I sound like a crack dealer(these trucks might as well be crack because they are that addictive) GOOD LUCK!
Here is a link to some info. Prices will depend on which dealers want to sell or keep the trucks. Only option is a soft tonneau cover for the bed.

Red might be the fastest, but Silver is the easiest to keep clean, and it's the sleakist. Looks like a silver bullet.

Zues 2k1,
When I bought my L in July of last year I went out with every intention of buying a Silver one. There were a couple of dealerships in Denver that had them, but nobody could offer me the deal I got in Ft.Collins. My dealer in Ft. Collins told me there would be quite a wait for a Silver one so I bought another Red one. Two weeks after buying mine there was a Silver one on the lot. Beleive me he got quite a tongue lashing. The main reason I wanted Silver is because they just look a little classier, and my 95 is Red. Bummer I guess.

Thanks for all of the info. It is exactly what I was looking for. One question though, is the SVT Mustang faster than the L? With 380hp stock I can't believe the top speed is only 140 something. Is this number seriously underestimated or what?

Can you say drag limited? The drag from an F-150 is enormous at high speeds. I really don't want to test this one out, but I would say that it's probably pretty close.

The Cobra will be faster because it's more aerodynamic and lighter.
The Lightning's top speed is 140, aerodynamically limited. When you get up to around 120 in the truck you realize you are driving a truck with a bed and the aerodynamics of a fat lady. It's like hitting a wall at 140 (or so I hear).

From what I've seen posted, in the 1/4 mile the new Cobra and L have run real close to the same et's.

First hand experience...stock vs stock. My '99 Cobra with the 'Fix' pulled through 145 going strong. My L gets to 130 pretty fast, but really loses steam fast. I've had it to 145, but thats about it. If I didn't have a hard bedlid, I think it would top out around 140. The L will take a Cobra in first (up to about 40), they'll break even from 40-70, and the Cobra will gain from there on up. The Cobra's got an advantage with gearing at 80 mph. The L is 1:1(3rd), but the Cobra is still in 3rd and pulling strong up to triple digits. If you put in 4.10s, chipnfilter, etc. it's a whole new ballgame.
