Innovative LM1 having grounding issues
Innovative LM1 having grounding issues
Anyone using an Innovative LM1? I'm checking for ground offset and having alot of trouble. With the LM1 set at 2.5V output and logging using SCT software, Livelink starts reading at about 2.716 then trends to 2.430 and bounces back and forth. But not sporatically, over a period of time, 3 minutes or so. I'm "assuming" its a ground issue and I wanted to know what others are doing.
I used to use the lm1 but since switched to the lc1.I coulndt get the offsets right and I prefered a permanent install. The only thing I can think that might help is to not use the cig. plug and run a cable grounded to the block, and one to the + terminal on bat. Also run the analog ground to the block on its own lug.
You might have seen this already but just in case

In those 2 pages they go into detail about how important good grounding is.Its just w/ the lm1,all grounds are on one lug,the cig plug.
Good luck

I've seen the page and that is what I'm trying to duplicate. The LM1 isn't the problem it's the harness that must be grounded for the analog that I can't seem to get nailed down. I'm tying different grounds and the error seems to be getting smaller but not steady like they show.
Gotcha.
Just make sure that the low voltage analog grounds have their own lug on the block. Also make sure any engine ground straps are in good order. That and having all connections soldered should get you closer to a consistent voltage offset.
My lc1 varied from 2.489- 2.494. I averaged them and used that as my offset
