Post Good Times at Byron Yesterday

I just wanted to thank everyone who came out to race (or even just watch the races) yesterday. We had a great turnout, and decent weather. I enjoyed getting to meet as many of the Lightnings and Dodge truck owners as I did. I hope everyone had a good time.
I especially want to thank RobG, Zor Prime, and LSChicago for helping me work on my truck as it wasn't running quite right. It's great to have friends. I also want to thank Ron Leek, the owner of Byron Dragway for allowing us to hold the event at his facility. Ron is a great guy, who really tried to make this a memorable event for all of us. His enthusiasm for racing is second to none. I'm sure he would appreciate continued patronage from some of you first time racers, who have now been bitten by the racing bug. Good luck too Ron on the purchase of your second track in Cedar Falls Iowa!
I also want to thank Birdman93 who was there to photograph the event, and will supply photos to Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine for possible inclusion in an upcoming issue of their magazine. If anyone is interested in a nice color photograph/poster of their truck contact him at:Anthony Poole, Silver Wolf Studios, PO Box 265, Oxford Junction, IA (adpoole@netins.net)
Anthony, thanks too for an unbiased choice of the "Best Appearing Truck", none of us wanted that responsibility as there were so many good looking vehicles there.
Another special thanks to Zor Prime who was our official ILLNESS club photographer, as his Lightning is currently out east in his home state of Pennsylvania. Look forward to some great photographs to soon be posted by Zor. Thanks also to Sandra Parich for taking some pictures of the Lightnings and Dakotas in the staging lane with my camera, haven't had time to download them yet but will post tonight or tomorrow.
Reality1, I feel especially bad that you didn't get to race, we will have to plan a trip to Tri-State when you get your truck sorted out and Baby Jake is back home. Wish I could have helped with your problem but I was a bit pre-occupied with my own.

Again thanks to everyone, especially those who drove from Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin with questionable weekend weather conditions.

The ILLNESS Club races regularly at Byron and we generally use the NLOC board for communication purposes.

Hope to see you all again soon,

Lightning Bob

Bob,
Thanks for all your work in putting this together. Unfortunately I spent too much time on my truck and missed meeting and talking with many of the new ILLNESS Members.
Must have been over 40 Lightnings...we'll need double the parking reserved next year.

Everyone,
Id like to thank Lightning Bob for setting the event up for us all. I had a great time. Id also like to thank a very good freind of mine RobG who asked me to go to Byron. Without him i wouldnt have gone and gotten to meet some really cool people.
My IP has been banned from the SVT site by the illustrious founder. So i will no longer be able to post over there(no big loss). I will upload all the pictures i took for the ILLNESS club and post the link up over here. There are around 100 pictures in all.

Matt

It was great finally meeting you. I had heard the same thing from Jim@JDM but it's hard to part with those tips. Thanks for the input, I'm sure that will be just one more of many changes yet to come on my truck. We should plan something at U.S. 41 in the near future.

Hilander,
Brought my 01 L with 600 miles, chip, filter, and throttle body. First three runs were 13.2 @ 103mph with 2.0 sec 60' times. Next three runs ran 13.3 @ 102 mph. As it warmed up I started running slower, which is expected.

Hilander

My best was a 12.83 @103+ which made me think something was wrong with my truck.
The quickest Gen2 was Lightning Rob who ran a 12.26 @ 110+ on the juice. Without nitrous, I beleive BLKSVTruck was quickest with a 12.6xx. I think ToolTime Tim had the quickest Gen1 with low 12's I believe. The quickest Dakota was 1BadDakota???, Tom ran an 11.4xx at ??? on the juice with his awesome Dodge. We had over 40 Lightnings and 7 or 8 Dodges participate in the event. Maybe some of you guys can fill in the blanks or add your times for the others.

What A Great day!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to Bob for setting up this event. We met some great people, and saw some beautiful trucks.Sorry you had the problems with your truck, you had your head under the hood most of the morning.
I made only two runs with my truck, it only had 1090 miles on motor, but did manage to pull out a 13.87 at 98.8 mph, for bone stock not to bad.
Thanks to everyone who met at Woodfield before, and got us to the track.
A good time was had by all.
Thank you all,
Bill

A BIG thanks to Lightning Bob for arranging this event with Ron L. (track owner) and also for the great ILLNESS outings we had last year. Byron is an awesome track with a very relaxed atmosphere, it's like having a drag strip in your backyard !!! I'd like to thank Tom and Terry for showing up with two bad *** Dodges and ZorPrime for getting roasted while taking the pics. My best runs were a 12.74 and a 12.75 @ 106.5, slightly off my best but it was 75+ degrees out. Everybody seemed to be running a bit slower than usual. If it was in the 40's I'm sure Lightning ROB would have an 11 second pass to his credit. Great job for a first timer. 12.26 in this weather ??? YIKES !!!!
Thanks again Bob.

Congrats to those who turned good times and had fun, condolences to those that had a less than desireable day. Jim, what happened?
I am so ready for WFC 4 & hopefully a few ILLNESS get togethers later this summer.
