Angry code t0171

Ok my truck threw its first code ever. t0171 bank 1 lean. ok, which bank is # 1? I searched the website for that code and all the post came up as bank 1 and 2. mine is just bank 1. But I got the general idea that it is a vac line so w where. Since it is only on one side of the engine I get lost. I know this has come up here before but all i got in the search is both banks going lean, and only one post was for a L. Any and all ideas are welcome .

If it truly is only throwing a code for Bank 1, I would suggest swapping the front O2 sensors from side to side.

If the code follows the sensor, replace both O2's. (I say this because of the age of the O2's, not for any other reason).

If not, ????

Let us know what you find out...

If you do what these guys say and you still get the code... you are in for a real PIA job.

There is a vacum hose on the back of the lower intake... it tend to rot out since oil sits in it and once that happens you need to replace it.

Some will tell you they changed by reaching back there and replacing it. Unless your hands as the size of 12 year old that ain't going to happen.

I pulled the S/C'r the upper intake and then I was able to reach behind and pull the hose off (in pieces) and replace it.

It a great time to clean you intercooler, change plugs and anything else you might want to do while you have everything off.

OBTW: I thought the code was p0171 not a t0171.

Good luck.

Yes the code does start with a P. I will try the O2 swap first. I think if it was a vac tube both banks would be lean and it would idle up and run like crap. It seems to run just fine. No studdering and the throttle response is still good. I havent been letting it rev above 2500 rpm to be on the safe side. I dont want to have to pull the S\C off and relegate my self to my junker truck for a month. But if I have to I will, and I will clean the intercooler as well. Thanks for all the info, U guys are the best. Especially you B-MAN, u and ur fairy boots ober dare.
