Question Help with Autometer boost gauge. I only have 6 lbs. of boost!!!

I installed my gauge pod this afternoon. I noticed that the boost gauge with the engine off shows 1 in. hg. At idle it hold 20 in. hg. Is this right? I hope the gauge is screwed up because I can only get 7 lbs. of boost at WOT! And thats only for a second right before shift change. More like 6 lbs. until right before red line. If the gauge is right no wonder I can't get in the 12's! My in dash gauge shows 10 lbs. Any ideas?

How did you tap into the boost area? It's possible you have an orifice restriction, or bleed-off, where you T'd off for your new gauge causing the Autometer to read low. And then of course it's possible that the gauge is defective.

If you like I could give you a dozen reasons why you’re not in the 12's, and none of them will be this "low" boost problem your citing.

Anyone else with the Autometer boost gauge reading low boost? I hooked it up with the factory dash gauge so both would work at the same time. Something is wrong. The dash gauge shows 11 lbs. the Autometer shows 6 lbs. And no, I don't have any leaks. I get the same reading on the Autometer with or without the dash gauge hooked up.

The guage may not be properly adjusted from the factory. Does it read exacly "0" when the vehicle is off? If not, read below.

Hint:
Stick your finger in the back of the guage. You'll feel a metal rim. Apply pressure to the rim until the guage reads "0" when the pressure is released.

Jerry - your gauges are probably reading correctly - my factory boost shows 10# but my autometer only shows 7# at WOT - I believe the autometer - hoping to get to the 8# rated boost of the supercharger with a filter kit install --

Thanks everyone for your help. Jim44, I hope the filter helps. I have the PSP filter and still only show 7 # on the Autometer. How much boost does Ford claim? I can't remember.

I have a 2001 and have 9 psi of boost in 2nd/3rd gear. The only mod is a K&N panel filter. This is on an Autometer gauge.
