Post The "miss" is gone...

For a while now I've noticed a slight miss or stumble at cruise RPM's. Not bad, but just enough to notice.

Had a shop replace the plugs today with NGK's and it's gone!!! Perfectly smooth crusin' again.

Not a bad mod. for only $35.00 labor....

What $35 labor?

Everyone here in Dallas knows about replacing plugs for the F-150. I've tried about 10 different places all the way from dealer to little shops and they all want $300 to change the plugs. Everyone saids the same thing, wow those 2 in the back are a real B1tch.

You're one lucky SOB, good for you.

Question

For $300.00 I would drive to Dallas and change them. Heck for $200.00 I would do it. They aren't that tough. Sounds like Dallas mechanics are a little scared. Only takes about two hours to do. Hey HALO I see a plug changing party comin' up in Dallas.

lgogether,

I have changed 7 of 8 twice.... Not too bad. The back ones are NOT as bad as the 2nd from the back on the drivers side. I dont have tools or know how to get 7mm bolt out from directly under Fuel rail.

Bankston Ford lists $135 as the price for 8 Cyl coil on plug change.... I may find out Monday since mine is missing just like yours.

1BADTK, Silver2000,

I still have a set of TorqueMasters that I want to try and after all the searching on this forum, I still feel that the TQ results where inconclusive at best. Actually only 1 person reported the he had a miss, everyone else other problems.

Like the DA that I am, I'm still running the factory platinum plugs. I'm surprised that I've never experienced any problems with them, but I’d be more than happy to trade intercooler problems for plug problems.

Thanks for the replys.

For $300.00, I would have kept the miss...

I think it was a well-spent 1.5 hrs. and $35.00. You know he got a $20.00 tip for that one....

Excellent place(Ford Quality Service Center) here in Tampa Bay area if anyone wants the name & number. Let me know. Or maybe I'll just keep them to myself...?

Hey Silver 2000, I have changed the plugs twice in my lightning and did not find it too difficult except for the 7mm bolt under the fuel rail. I found that the easiest way to get it out was to use a 1/4 inch drive 7mm socket with a 4 inch extension and go in from behind meaning from the rear of the motor not the front. I have done it twice with good success but the biggest bitch was putting the 7mm bolt back in because it kept falling down in the manifold and I had to tediously work it out of there. Changing the plugs on my L was about as difficult as my 95 SHO used to be. later 95rcobra.
