Thumbs up Just got the 2000

Just bought the truck yesterday after being a loyal Mustang owner for years. I was hesitant about it after all the trouble with my 99 Cobra. I'm not a huge fan of SVT...but I have to admit...the Lightning is awesome. Yes, it pulls to the right and makes loud noises when parking and I check the intercooler reservoir nervously...but when you blow by most everything that challenges you with the s/c in full boost it makes up for alot of the problems. Plus, I think it is the best looking truck on the road. JMHO!

Congrats!!! I notice that no one has yet mentioned that RED is the fastest color!!!

You will get a lot more smiles from the L than the Airbus, and the computer is not nearly as finniky!!!

Cool

Thanks for all your nice comments.
Mondo1---Yes....it is the Lightning that was parked out in front of Sawgrass Ford. I wasn't going to buy it until I took it for a test drive and put down a huge patch (and nearly swapped ends).
If anyone knows of a south florida Lightning club could ya send me an email. Thanks (WWalker482@aol.com)

Red00--I too took that truck out for a test drive ( gotta admit I punched it from a dead stop to see what she had, and I hit a curb straight on ( relax just kidding). You will probably be glad to know that through some serious research, I was able to contact the original owner. He is 36, has 2 kids and "never drag raced the truck" (his own words) also has a nice house in Coral Springs. He traded the L in along with his wifes stang ( she never drove it much) for a 2001 L.So your truck has a nice history. P.S. I did notice the front end clunk when I was parking it in reverse with the wheels cut to the left.Should be an easy fix with the front end stops lubed. Many posts about this on the web.Anyway good luck!! I almost cancelled my 01 order for that truck. Its a beauty!

Mondo1---

You managed to really terrify me with the test drive story. Thanks a million for telling me about the history of the truck/owner. It seemed like it was in nice shape and when I didn't see that any mods were done I held hope that the previous owner hadn't beat on her too bad. I wonder why he traded it in for a 2001? Did he mention anything to you about it? The OASIS didn't show any real problems..and I doubt he got the new one for the 20 hp since he never raced/modded the 2000? Anyways, thanks again for the info...I get nervous anytime I buy a used high-performance vehicle!

He told me that he was already paying for 2 vehicles 1 of which wasn't even being drivin , so he he really came out ahead(payment wise)by giving up the stang and upgrading to a newer truck. He also said he had an extended warr. that he got credit back on, which also was a plus.He said he had no problems with it at all.Bought it in April of 2000 and traded it in in March 21 0f 01.He must of got an azwhoopin!

Talking

Red00Lght and Mondo1

I met the guy who traded in Red00lght's new ride. He traded it in for a Black 2001. He also told me that he never raced it. I told him that I took mine to the track and he was amazed. He never even thought about racing it at a dragstrip. So that should make you feel better. I had asked him about the "clunk" and he didn't know what I was talking about. I then described it to him and he knew exactely what I meant. The truck looked nice to me, he was actually washing and waxing it when I was talking to him. Glad to see that someone on the board picked it up. Small world huh??

Mondo1--

He probably took an azwhoppin similar to the one I took when I gave back the 99 Cobra for the 2000 GT Convertible (both are gone and I promised myself not to even think about the Bullitt).

Amazing that so many people are aware of not only the truck I bought but also it's previous owner! Well...unlike him, I probably will be seen at Moroso now and then...hehehe
