Post What kind of FERRARI was this?

Ok,I was at an auto auction last week and saw a dark blue Ferrari there. It was a new one(used though) It was the kind that has the bright red motor in the back and the glass lid covering it.It was very nice looking but wrong color for me.This is the first time I saw car bring over 100k dollars at auction and the buyer even got a standing ovation for buying it.I see 60-70k dollar mercades every day but a ferrari at over 100k .....ouch I am also wondering if any of you guys might know what this car is actually worth or what it cost new.

The car you describe is the 360 Modena. Sweet ride but I fancy the new 911 Turbo much more and for a tad less.

The picture clearly shows the same FERRARI.It Is a MODENA.Nice car but i could not and would not spend that much on a car.I would rather buy a 2003 viper/corvette and Lightning for the same and have more fun with those.By the way it was like a 2000 or a 2001 and it was actually shipped from overseas from the looks of the paperwork. And yes,the price seems right concidering this car brought $108k at auction.Imagine that. Here we all bitch about losing 5k on our Lightning when the poor person who bought this just a year ago lost $50k.....OUCH!!

Car and Driver just happened to review the convertible version in this month's issue. They tested it along side an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante (convertible), and the BMW Z8. They list it as doing the 1/4 mile in 13.2 seconds @ 106 mph. The issue also has a one or two page blurb on the 2001 Lightning. It's a pretty decent read!

My veiw on this knowing that it is a DEALER ONLY auction is that the person who bought it did it for one of two reasons.Either he bought it to resell like we all do and if you are gonna spend $108k on one paticular vechicle,You must expect to make a small fortune on it.Also knowing that it came from HERB CHAMBERS dealership which has many many differnt dealerships including a HIGH HIGH line dealership, like Mercades and BMW,It makes me think that this is even a high dollar vechicle for them and wanted to unload it and this car must be very hard to retail. The only other reason i can see how this person bought it is to drive it and have a show piece for a year or so and plans on at least getting his money back by retailing it a year later. These cars im sure lose value very fast with every year like caddilacs and lincons.Either way who ever bought it has DEEEEEP pockets.

Cool

Here is a pic of my valet washing my Ferrari.

I would say in my dreams, but in my dreams it would be an F50 (if you're gonna dream, you might as well dream big).
