Post What would it take for a Class action Suit?

Anyone know what we have to do to file a class action lawsuit against ford for the intercooler problem on the lightnings? Just to get some momentum here might help.

You might try one of these guys, this is the law firm that filed the class action for the '99 Cobra owners.

Well, if you find out, please count me in. It pisses me off that as much as I love this truck, I am seriously considering trading it in for something that I don't have to worry about every day. I lost my truck for a week and a half on the first intercooler replacement, and I am at about the mileage that I am expecting my second. That is bull****!

It takes three different people with exactly the same problem. Better have lots of money and plan on being in court for 10 years. And oh, if you sell your truck in the mean time you have no claim. And a used buyer has no claim. Good luck. You'll need it. Ford lives in court.

Let's not come unglued over this, guys. I am very frustrated, too. My i/c has been leaking since last Oct., and I am almost to the point where I am buying more water than gasoline (well, maybe not quite). However, I realize that since it takes a while for this problem to manifest itself, so that it was probably at least a year for Ford to realize that this was not an isolated problem, and then more lead time to engineer a solution that would not fail in some other way, that the fix could not be immediately forthcoming. SVT has told me on more than one occasion, "Don't worry, we will take care of you guys (evidently CA's truck is immune), and last month they told me that "the fix" would be available in April. So lets give it a little more time and see if what Colletti told David Yee has any truth to it. If it isn't, just tell me where to sign the papers.

dont mean to **** anyone of but, out of all of you guys complaining about i/c leaks, how many of these trucks are bone stock from the factory. think about it if you put a blower pulley on, or even if you just put an open air filter on these trucks you are pegging the boost gauge before you guys start trying to sue be ready to have you truck looked over with a fine tooth comb. beleive me they are not going to hand over anything unless there absolutely sure the customer hasn't altered there product in anyway that would sacrifice reliabilty. sorry but the way i look at it that the chances you take when you start messing around with stuff.

Yeah, when mine starts leaking, I bet the chip caused the poor solder joints!

As one of the 3 plaintiffs that filed, and won, the class action suit against DaimlerChrysler for the reduced towing on the Dakota R/T I can tell you that it took about a year from the time we filed the suit until we had a judgement, and yes the company will look for any way to weasel out of any responsibility. You should have heard the stuff that was said during our suit.

The main thing is it must be a legitimate problem, it must effect a large number of owners, you must have a legal team with experience, and mostly you must have patience. But you do not need any money!

However, the instant you file the suit, the company will stop all efforts to work the problem and will wait for the suit to run its course through the courts. They will then do only what the court orders them to do, and nothing more.

I'm not sure it's time to sue, but then my IC isn't leaking. Not yet anyway, probably will any day now, I have just hit 15,000 miles on '99 and that's about as long as any of them have lasted so far.

Just my opinion...

i wasn't talking about the chip being the cause of the leaks. i was just stating that i have heard of a guy that took his L in for a leaking i/c and he had some kind of ice cooler in the bed that he was pumping his coolant thru (hence modified oem design). dealer almost refused warranty. (he had disconnected everything but left box in the bed)i was just stating that i also punish my truck in a way it was not really designed but i admit that i'm taking a chance on something not holding up under more strain than was originally designed to hold up to. but thats the name of the game.

Well, if you need 3, then you can aount me in for the long haul. I'm 23 and this truck will be mine for a good 50 years atleast. I have time to be in court.

Widespread problem? Looky here, it sure seems widespread.

RDY2RAC, My truck is bone stock and the intercooler failed at 8,000 miles. It is a BS design, Ford knows this and they need to fix the problem period. Numerous failures have occured, some on stock turcks, some on modified trucks. Putting a chip, filter, blower pulley, ect should not make what is essentialy a glorified radiator fail. The intercooler is just bad. Lets fix it and quit with the blame game. Just my 2 cents worth.
