Question Lightning Question

Hey there I just sold my SS today and have been looking in to a lightning, I have narrowed it down to 2 There is a 1999 Black Lightning w/ 24k miles on it w/ some scratches but has Bassani headers for sale for $22,000 is that a fair price ???? another is from a dealer it is a 1999 white lightning w/ 35k on it, seems to be bone stock for $23,800???? Both have the hard cover on them. Help what should i look for in buying one of these trucks? And have you guys seen any better deals ....

Thanks,
James
P.S. what do these trucks run stock in 1/4 mile ?

I agree with hdmlnium get a 2001 you will get the improved intercooler, 373 gears, alluminum drive shaft, 20 more hp, and the cool new lights. You will have a full warraranty, and might even be able to get a lower interest rate on a new one. That alone might make it worth it.

Silver99SS:
I would still get the new one, you will be getting alot more than just the 20 H.P. But if your mind is set on an older one you can buy my 2000 with only 3500 miles and i'll buy the '01.
Oh, and did I mention mine was white. haha

Do a car-fax on the one you're interested in to make sure it's not been wrecked. Also, look at the intercooler tank for a correct fluid level. Some 99-00's did have some leaky intercooler probs. You should be able to get each seller down some on price if they are motivated. Try and determine if either has been chipped. The computer is just obove the right foot area of the passenger seat. Look for the little black plastic cover with the letters CUX1 on the part of the computer that faces you and pop it off to see if the edge connector goo on it or not. You will need a flashlight. If there is no rubbery goo, a chip has been used. This is a good test of honesty of seller. A lightning that's been chipped is not a bad thing; it only lets you know if it's been done. Might want to ask private seller if he's modded it ever and for timeslips to prove how good it has done if he has put it back to stock. Look around, there are some low mile L's out there for good prices.
