Talking Used Red Lightning

I saw a 99 lightning on a lot for 26500.00. It had 20,000+ miles on it and the sales man would not let me test drive it. Yeah im only 20 but i have the money to pay for it...i wanted to see how stupid the sales man was so i asked him a few question. I asked him how much horse power it had and he told me 385hp...lol...not only that he told me that they're already getting the 2002 lightnings...lol man i walked away and laughed my *** off.

26,500 Seems high priced for 20,000 miles. There were 6 G2 lightnings in my local auto trader between $23,000 dollars and $29,000 dollars. They ranged between 4k and 8k miles. The high priced ones have been in there for a while. The only reason they are asking so much is probably because they still owe that much.

That seems really high. On January 10, I got a 2000. 10,199 miles for $26,877.

I just test drove a L for the first time, I am also 20, and COULD afford it, (if my parents helped )

But wasn't planning on buying it. BEFORE I GET FLAMED I didn't beat on the truck, just drove it like I owed $30,000 on it, and got on it a little to expierence the feel. Unfortunatley no crazy hole shots or anything, (in traffic)

They were asking 28,598 for a 2000 red w/ hard tonneu cover, and spray in bed liner, window tint, and only 2750 miles (yes, 2750)

I was VERY impressed, and a L might have to be my next car. I just wished I could have driven it more, to get the feel of it

I'd shop around on these prices. My 01 is coming in at under 29.

Thumbs down

There is a dealer here in OKC that has a '99 Red L for $25,9??. It was up on the show rack outside and it was late so no dealers were there. I couldn't see how many miles were on it. But I did notice it had been wrecked. The front bumper was lower on one side than the other and the grill frame was pushed in on one side a little. Just stood there and shook my head. Couldn't believe they wanted that much for a wrecked L.

I'm selling my 20K mile Red 99' in CA for around $25K. That's around what price you should be looking to pay, or mid 24's if you can. Buy lower milleage if you can though. IT's worth the premium.

Dealers can be really judgemental when it comes to people. You can really put it to him, when you do buy a new truck, be sure to take a drive through his LOT.
I had a similiar situation in NJ, I stopped for lunch and the place next door sold rims. They all saw I pulled up in my work truck (1992 F150 Extra cab w/150,000+ NYC miles) and coveralls, and none of them seemed very interested in helping me.
I finally spoke to an older guy named MARK who helped me find the rims I wanted, I pulled up later that afternoon to pick them up with the Lightning and they all seem eager to help, I told them when I was in earlier and they did not seem to have time, I then spoke with Mark, The guy that got the rim sale..
for thought'
(1) Don't judge someone but first appearances.
(2) when your buying something for your truck..Test them, drive there with the worst vehicle you can find..LOL

The dea;er I bouht my '01 L from has a black 2000 w/ 2500 miles for $27.5K. I asked the guy if that price was firm and he said no way. He told me that they had already made their money on that truck the first time they sold itt and he hinted that he was sure it would sell for a couple thousand less then that. Sounded like a good deal to me.
So yes, I think that dealer you wee at was asking way too much.
