Post Report on my Snuglid installation with bedrug.

First the costs. I didn't shop too much, just got somebody convenient. Oddly, the plant is about 30 miles away and it still took two weeks to get my lid.
Lid with snug grip and clamp installation cost $720. Headliner (which matches bedrug perfectly) $75. Bedrug $349. Installation of everything $80.

Bedrug is great - have it installed with the inside tie-down hooks screwed back in after installation - not with a slot sliced in the rug.

Lid's color match is as close as could be hoped for.

Surfaces of lid are smooth and straight.

The leading edge is not right. It has a flair that I'll guess is supposed to correspond to the curve required to lift the lid but it does not fit well with the body.

The leading edge of the lid is raw and they don't paint it.

Though the lid does not sit down tight enough to conceal the rail caps they have offered to fix it - more to follow.

Bottom line - It's OK but it is a styless expanse of fibreglass that is more functional than beautiful. Kinda miss looking back and seeing the bed and its steel configurations...

Please post what was done to get your snug lid to fit properly & conceal the bed caps.I have the same problem,I returned & had the shop completely re-install..same problem. They blamed it on snug top.I believe the cause is the snug grip hinge mount height. Thanks

I am also having the same problems with my lid. It went back to the factory twice. The paint didn't match well. Too dark. And the right rear edge rises as it wraps around the corner of the truck, exposing the bed cap along the passenger side. The driver side is perfect. I called and spoke with the quality control manager. He stated that the problem lies with the fender molds. He said because the fenders are composite molds they are, by nature, inconsistent from the factory. He said they have had to retool for the F-150 flare sides every year since '97 and they are considering retooling again. He told me they have made four custom snuglids for Lightning owners. True or not, I don't know, I am just repeating what he said. I am going to drive up to Long Beach in the next couple of weeks so they can custom fit mine. I am also going to leave my gas lid so they can match the paint. I paid way too much for this-$860.00. No headliner. And I purchased it from PG Series in El Cajon. They are not the local distributor. The local distributor sold to them. The initial installation fit sucked so I found out who the actual distributor was (Rhino Linings) here in San Diego and went to them. I wasn't happy when I discovered I had purchased from a third party. So it becomes next to impossible to get a refund. Now I have to drive to Long Beach and let Snug Top measure and custom fit the thing if I want it to look good. Go figure.

Sorry to hear of all your problems - my snuglid fits like a glove - I think the difference is that I went with the bolt mount not the clamp mount - dealer (Mother Truckers) said they didn't recommend clamp mounts and it didn't bother me to drill holes - but I'm sure many wouldn't want holes in their new L's - just a thought

After i tweaked the installation a bit, I have a perfect fit. Sometimes you just need to go back and take the time the wrench monkey's didn't. My Snuglid and Bedrug both fit perfectly now.....i have the clamp system.

Thanks for the feedback - the message I read is that there are good fits so it can be done. I'll be gone a week then I'll get up to Long Beach for their best effort.

The lid has settled down a good 1'4 inch in the last week.

Dogman, let us know what happens when you go to Long Beach.
