Too funny, Monday I'll get my fourth intercooler (including the original) and I'm under 14,000 miles.

A quick synopsis of warranty issues:
3 transmissions, one complete rear end, one right axle, one front warped disk, all brake pads deglazed 3 times, one windshield, Bed slammed into cab from factory (hint I'm not the only one, look on the passenger side), bed misaligned, gnarling passenger window, one vibrating sliding window, driver seat clink, and a front end clunk.

Someone, anyone, please tell me you can out do this!

How about someone writing a letter in Word that we can all use to put our name and intercooler replacement date to telling ford that they need to take care of the problem or there is going to be alot of people and family members not buying fords anymore. Or mail all the letters to a newspaper and see what kind of reply Ford has to that. Lets see them say then that its only a Isolated problem.

Igogether,
Some cars seem to have MANY problems, while other have NO or very few problems.
I wonder if it is the vehicles fault ? A lemon perhaps ? Or could it be... the owners driving style ?

When I was 16, I went through 3 clutches in my car before 14,000 miles, I didn't burn em up, I actually broke them. I thought the car was a lemon.
The guy next door to me with a Datsun truck that he bought new, finally had a throwout bearing go out.... at 280,000 miles. He put the original pressure plate and disk back in cause they were not worn out at all.
I know the intercooler is a faulty design, destined to leak no matter how you drive. But all the other stuff, glazed brakes, warped rotors, blown trannys... That is "probably" your driving style, and it will happen with any car you choose to abuse. I am not condemming your driving style, have fun and drive it how you want. But just realize that there is a direct relationship between equipment failure and driving style. Don't blame it all on the truck.

I'm no lawyer, YET, and I don't know all the circumstances involved with your case, but the "Lemon law" does sound like something worth looking into.

WOW.. that SUCKS.
And I'm fixing to sign up for a used 99..

Igogether,

Man, I believe if I were you, I would consider getting a different truck. I feel for ya!

Lightfootning,

I am on my third trans (second one only had 100 miles on it) and I BABY this truck. I am not saying driving a vehicle hard will not cause things to break, but I do believe there is some kind of "bug" in the trannys. Don't get me started on the intercooler issue. JMHO...

wrightlightning,
True, I have read more than a few posts about bad trannys from the get go.
I suppose I was referring more toward the glazed brakes and warped rotors. You can't blame that on a "bug"

One thing I do wonder about is driving style and the intercooler leak. Mine is not leaking yet, I am hoping it will start leaking after they come up with a proper fix, and before the warranty is up.
I am gonna be real upset if because I babied it that it doesn't start to leak till after the warranty is up. I do hope Ford steps up to the plate and just recalls that big black eye of an intercooler.

Lightfootning,

About my driving style, well I'll eat the brakes part, I'm a late breaker.

The transmissions, well the first time was a total grenade ka-boom! The other 2 where when the R9 was in (slipping clutches), funny before and after the R9 really haven't had a problem (no chip, custom chip, jl, jdm). I'm more of the road racing type not a dragger, so I wouldn’t say that I’m the cause of the transmission problems. Especially since I’ve never done these one-foot brake and one-foot gas burnouts.

The rest of the stuff are problems from the factory. I would attribute most of this stuff to an early first year model, once the dealer fixes the problem they don’t reoccur.

I hate to say it but most of the problems I have, I have also seen on others Lightnings, I guess once you know what to look for it just screams out at you.

Other than blown engines I really haven't seen a warranty issue posted on this forum that I haven't already had, so it’s not like I’m posting problems that are only occurring on my L.

Stop on by sometime and for $9.95 I’m sure that I can locate something interesting on just about anyone’s Lightning.
