Is the dealer jerking me around?
Went by Gwinnett Place Ford, NE of Atlanta, this weekend and they finally got '01 L in. They're not letting just anybody test drive anymore, not with out some talk. So I try and do some talking about when and how much I will/can buy one. I've checked edmunds and they rate their 'True Market Value (TMV)' to be equal to MSRP. So I've been using that in my own numbers. The sticker wants a $5000 SVT special upgrade. The dang 20 yr old sales guy (I'm only 22 so no room to talk) wants to figure with the $5000, $37,000!!!. He acts as if they're getting it (of course, why wouldn't he act like it, it's his job). My question is, are any of you paying anything outragious compared to MSRP or invoice? I mean, $500 (hundred) over is so-so, the dealer wants to make some money. I thought I was being nice to suggest I'd pay MSRP. Any thoughts on this? Or better yet, any dealers within reasonable distance from Atlanta, Ga, who is better. (Also dealers who are ok with mods)
Check around and you should be able to find '01 for MSRP. Look hard (and be ready to take a longer drive) and you will find dealers willing to sell below MSRP. $5000 for the "SVT Special Upgrade"?
I would be rolling on the floor laughing if they tried to sell that one to me.

Tell them to get bent. There is no reason why you should pay over MSRP (best of luck finding much lower than that, however). Might want to try some of the Ford dealers on the southside of town (I lived in Peachtree City...) like Person Ford or Griffin Ford.
I bought my L in Southern California at MSRP...

For that much, you could fly up here to Detroit and buy the red 01 still left at the dealership I bought mine from, drive it home and save about $4500. I'm lucky that my dad worked for Ford and I get A plan. Got mine for less than 27k.

I went by Gwinnett Place Ford also... I ended up buying my 01' L at Gene Evans in Jonesboro off of I-85 on the X plan. $28790 plus tax & tag. Try Lagacy Ford in Mcdonough, they said they would honor the X plan if you can get one, or they will sell at MSPR. Gwinnett is the only dealer I know of that marks them up $5K. I went there today to get locking lug nuts and told a sales jones what I paid and where, and his jaw hit the ground!
Sorry mocklab, it's tough enough for me to get aplan. They've really got some weird rules now.

This is what I'd expect. I know it's hard to go under MSRP without any kinda plan. I think Stone Mountain Ford & Marietta Ford are SVT. I'm willing to travel further distances for better savings. Ideally keep it in GA, and its 5 neighbors. Hey Chainsaw, is it possible to get new friends hookups with that A-Plan connection
?

Call around and find a dealer that will honor X Plan. This will put it in the $28k range. This is how to get the plan(and it works):

Definitely try and track down an xplan dealer. Might require a long drive on your part but you'll get the truck for 28.8. You also might have to place an order as some don't want to sell their lot inventory at this price.
