Post f-body vs lightning

i know this has been on here who knows how many times but i have to vent here alittle .in my opinion there is know way in hell a lightning is faster then a f-body .i own a lightning now and it is no where near as fast as my ss . and i my only mods to ss where k@n and cut the airbox open that is all .i havent done anything to the lightning but stock for stock i would kill the lightning . i would even beat a chip and filtered lightning in the ss .i read all these kill stories and just cant believe them because like i said i just got rid of the ss for this thing and it is slow as hell.this is just my personel opinion being that i have owned both but i know everyone is going to rip me a new one but who the hell cares .i am not tring to start here remember this people before to start rippin me a new one .

I go to the track with a group of Ls1 owners that have mostly bolt on mods and one or two with gears. They can match the L pretty close, but they have to make alot of runs to do it. I have never street raced or anything like that, my experience is at the track only.

Well, we all have our opinions. I have ridden in one, and it did seem faster, but then we raced and I took him to 80-90.

From a roll, thats another story.

Are you talking about faster from a stop, or a roll? There's a big difference. The 2 White Lightnings I saw run at Beech Bend were running faster than most of the C5s, SSs, and WS6s times. I'm not sure what mods the Lightnings had, as I'm still trying to find out who they were..... I had a fun time with them on the way back to Nashville, though. From a roll, it's a totally different ballgame....

I don't think you own a lightning. You just post here to start trash talk. Go back to chevy land where you belong.

Question

Am I the only one who noticed that SLP 97 CAMARO SS GUY and SLPCAMAROSS98 have the following in common:

1. Both from NJ
2. Screen names are almost identical
3. Both type in all lower case with no punctuation and horrible grammar

If it looks like a troll and smells like a troll....

You'll have to forgive SLP, he's trying to justify to himself that its okay to return his Lightning and go get another SS.

I'll be the first to admit that many of these stories I read I just frankly do not believe...unless many of the owners here live in places where there are just no fast cars.

However, I posted a few days ago that I have only raced two F-bodies (one was a stock SS) and beaten them. The SS was an auto and I was 4+ cars ahead and pulling away at 85mph when they shut it down. At the same time, I know that it takes very little to get an F-body to run mid-12s...usually means adding drag radials and some very cheap intake/exhaust mods. That's pretty darn good.

My brother has a '99 Ram-Air T/A and runs low-13/107mph, and a good friend just purchased a '01 Ram-Air T/A. I _know_ (b/c I drove my friend's car) that my L will whip him. This isn't the best test b/c his engine is not broken in.

I have a chip and filter. I would not race an F-body from 85+mph on the highway. At this point the L has shifted into 3rd gear and the aerodynamics stink...the F-body would walk away.

Just stating the FACTS as I've experienced and witnessed them.

Stock for stock...I honestly believe the LS1 F-body is quicker...certainly from a rolling punch where driver skill is less important. I've stated before in a previous post that my '96 Cobra was a tick quicker than my '99 L in bone stock form.
