been waiting to see if anyone else had this problem. my 2001L came thru with the same 3rd brake light i had on my 2000L. i understand that there is now a new LED version. should i a) bug the dealer and have him install it, or b) bug the dealer, get him to order the light, and install myself or c) don't do anything.
i hate going to dealers after what they did to my 2000L, so i am leaning towards getting them to order one and i'll put it in myself. had anyone retrofitted it to a 2000/1999 ? if so, is it difficult ? i am assuming there's wiring under the headliner or inside the existing light to plug into. if there's headliner work, i don't want the dealer butchers anywhere near my interior.

final question - does it really look that different ? is it worth it ?

Wow. That's pretty cool! You are kinda like the mad genetic scientist on South Park that has the genetically mutated monkeys and stuff. He even has a little clone running around. Only instead of a 3 assed monkey you have a half baked Lightning! If it was me I would go to the selling dealer and make them fix it. If you have no faith in them you could try another local dealer. You are definitely entitled to the 2001 LED brake light.

yes - 1st thing i checked. have a buddy with a 2000L, so we checked - measured MAF, springs, driveshaft, shocks are bilstein, new
code for computer on doorframe, Ford SVT on Blower, Gtech times ,new wheels, xtra handle on passenger side,xtra sunvisors/lighted visors,headlights,tails,grill,foglights - pretty much everything we could think of - only the brakelight. guess ford was short the week it was made and grabbed one off a regular f150.

I know how you feel. When I got my '00, it didn't have the SVT tag on the tailgate. Makes you feel a little bit shorted.
