Tried to pick a fight w/ an NSX
So I'm tooling along, go through an intersection, see an NSX to the right pulling into the street.
He's 10 cars behind, there's no one around, so I sloooow down to let him catch up.
By the time he does so, I get behind him and give him some engine/tire music, but get no response.
The guy turns off, I follow, then he turns onto what I believe to be the street to his home. I do NOT follow. Gotta respect a man's castle, you know.
I looked up some numbers on the net about the 0-60 for the NSX, and they make it sound like I'm best off not taunting these beasts.
Anybody ever take one on? I thought they're supposed to be slower than a C5, but not from the numbers I see here and there on the net. What I've seen places their 0-60 under 5.
That's quick. They're not AWD, are they?

I though they were only good for like 13.6 1/4? And that is w/ a "great" driver too. I toy'ed around with one in my mildly modded Stang, and he didn't seem to have too much pull away power. They are V6, rear engine, rear drive, all HP, no torque. But boy, can they handle.
I had some fun with a Honda S2000 today. I came up from behind him on a curvy two lane highway. He puched it and so did I, I kept right on his bumper all the way to about 115mph.Then I pulled to the right and passed him at 120mph. He then chickened out and pulled off highway.
Man thats was so much fun, he was the first car that I got to give a good Lightning wooping to. I don't think he ever expected a pickup truck to keep close to him, and when I passed him man was that fun.

drove one a few years ago. they are slot cars, you can floor it thru hard turns, and it has plenty of power. it's not a drag racer. next time you see a hard turn coming up, think about flooring a lightning b4 you enter that turn
What's interesting about the NSX is that the Automatic and Manuals have different engines. The Automatic is a 3.0 liter with less horsepower than the Manual 3.2 liter. Both are V-Tech, but different engines. I found that strange.

MRBBQMAN you sort of stole my story here.
I was messing with this black NSX, year? He really didn't want to play around too much, we where sort of doing 1/2 throttle runs at each other until we where first at a stop light together. I thought it was a possible drag to this 25 MPH cruddy right hand turn, I figured if his front end raised then I’d punch it. Light turns green and we both smartly speed up to about 50 MPH as the turn comes upon us I know that the middle lane is mine and the only smooth one. I've done 50 MPH through here before and as we hit the beginning of the turn bam, the NSX explodes through the corner and exits probably ~80 -~85ish on exit, while I'm hanging on @ 50 MPH. That's when I knew we where racing all the time just on his terms, I some how knew for sure that if there is an NSX forum somewhere that I was a kill victim posted on it.!
I followed the guy all the way to work and he parks across the street in the ID software parking lot, there's a rumor that the inventor of DOOM drives... You guessed it a black NSX and a red Viper. If you got to get killed might as well get killed by a celebrity.

Guy I work with has an older 90,91 or 92 NSX and a new Porsche Carrera and I have beaten both of them at the strip. To get good Strip times you have to ABUSE the clutch.
I drove the NSX once, It is small inside, I am 6'3" and about 2 " taller than the car was designed for..... It didnt have great power but looks cool and likely would do a respectable job on the twisties....

The NSX isn't even close to being geared for 1/4 mile. 3rd gear goes to like 117mph. I've driven a friend's and they are cool. Period. Neat car. Is it ballsy like a Lightning or any other v8 RWD, high-torque car? No, its not.
His car ran 13.5/103mph at Ennis a couple of years ago. The thing is, with a good driver they hook very well. He was getting 1.9x 60' times on stock tires. That's pretty respectable for someone who had never had the car to the drag strip before. He's an open track racer...and that car is outstanding there.
Should you be worried if you have an L with a chip and filter...no.
