I believe the Vette would win. But if not, it sure would be a great looking loser! lol

I would put my money on the c5 winning in the 1/4 mile. not to start anything here, but i HIGHLY DOUBT an absolutely bone stock m5 can run 13 flat in the 1/4 mile. 13 flat is extremely fast. an m5 is an awesome car, but i think the 13.3 i once read was a bit optimistic. where my shop is in orange, nj, there is a black m5 that drives by quite often. my shop is right near an on ramp to a major nj highway. he always goes around the turn and gets on it, never actually beats it, but gets on it pretty good and honestly speaking, it didnt look fast at all. im not putting the car down, cause who knows, maybe it will blow my SS away in a drag race, but sure didnt look like a 13.3 car to me the way it goes. my friends 95 z28 ran 13.2 before he added nitrous to it, and he used to always drive by and crack it, now that car looked like it could move!! anyone else think an m5 can run 13 flat bone stock right from the showroom?

13.22 / 109 mph 12.6 / 114 . First number is a regular vette. Second # is the Z06. These numbers lifted from Chevy's site.

Cool

ahh, i agree with that 13.7 thats more like it the c5 i think will do a low 13. i think it will do a low 13 as a 6 spd or auto. 1bad360, was that 01 yellow c5 a stick or auto? not that it matters, but if it was a stick, maybe he didnt drive it well, or maybe he just got it and wasnt used to the car. i still would say the vette would win unless i saw right in front of my own eyes a m5 beat a c5 both stick,s both with awesome drivers. i guess its just hard for me to believe a luxury car (m5) can beat a sports car at a sports cars game, which would be 1/4 mile drag racing. i know an m5 isnt all luxury, but when i think of a bmw, i dont think of a car that should be showing its taillights to a brand new c5, just doesnt seem right.

I'd say the C5 has a slight edge in the drag race but the idea of near vette performance with 5 series passenger room is very cool (almost as cool as a high performance truck). On a road course the M5 would probably have the edge. This is only from my limited knowledge from having driven a friends c5 while only reading about the m5. Don't see to many of those bimmers here in the midwest.

Just the fact that an M5 can virtually hang with or beat a C5 is awesome in itself. I'd take an M5 over a C5 anyday. The handling on the M5 is going to be better also. Plus the fact that you actually have 4 doors and a backseat!

A friend at work as a Z06 though, and that bad boy will throw you back in the seat so fast. I love that car! He let me drive it once back from lunch and it's extremly fast and handles like its on rails...gotta love that.
