Question Nitrous Kit (Brand/Type) Recommendations?

I like the plate style that goes between the throttle body and plenum, but I don't think they make that style for Lightnings (like Mustangs, for example).

Anybody have any recommendations as far a a small/basic kit that doesn't cause backfires, nitrous explosions, or lean-outs? Plate style, or single nozle?

Preferably on the inexpensive side.

Thanks.

There's so many choices and diff set ups, and hellz ya they make a plate system.
I was running that dam near 7 yrs ago on a L, Sal from PSP has been making them forever

Ok here's my personal experience with N20 kits on a Lightning,
I've had 3 differant nitrous set ups on a 2 differant Lightning's.
#1 You MUST use a Wet Kit
I've had the low end "Zex Kit" and found it to be flawless.
If your looking to spend the least amount of money you aint beating a zex kit Sob hooks up in like a minute too, ok maybe 60 minutes.
I have that PSP Plate on in this pic but it's hard to see

I've also had a Race Tested Set up but thats not on the low end side
I tried it both with a Plate and also with a nozzle directly in the intake like this pic

and now I have what I consider the Best System

My opinion buy the NX even know it's a pain in the *** to hook up
The starter kit is like 500.00, add the bottle for under another 100.00 and it's even cheaper than the Zex Kit
Like Here

Either way you'll also need a Heater and if you really want control some day you can go for the electronic controller, add the purge set up, pressure switche, and and and...

Is there a "low end" ZEX kit specific for Lightning?

Whose got the best deal going on them?

The link provided appears to be for Nitrous Express.

Thanks Rob, I know you've been around the proverbial block.

I have a complete NX kit for sale for a lightning. It is the one that PSP sells. I will let it go for $500 plus shipping. It also has a NX progressive controller with it and a NX electric pressure guage and a few other things with it. Let me know if you want it.

WOW YOU AINT GOING TO FIND A BETTER DEAL THAN THAT

Blown, you should buy that Kit, thats a KILLER DEAL
I pointed out the basic basic NX kit and with a bottle that was @600.00
CSHEETS kit has EVERYTHING including a Kick Axx Controller, Gauge, Bottle,
and hell who knows maybe even the plate and or possible purge kit or heater???
Now your talking about a 800.00 - 1000.00 kit for 1/2 the price, Hell I should buy it....

I happen to have to best NX has to offer, Hi Flow Carbon Fiber Solenoids (including the Purge Solenoid),
their fancy nozzle, Pressure Switch, Heater, Gauge, Switches, etc.
Installed your looking at 3K for a system like mine.

As for Zex it has "3" wires to hook up and the L happens to have the perfect spot to mount the Unit (which contains EVERYTHING)
Red wire to Power (switch), Black Wire to Ground, White Wire to the Middle wire of the TPS.
There is not an easier to hook up, cleaner looking install available from anyone,
hell Johnny L ran a Zex Kit to most of his World Records for years and years...

I had the ZEX #82021 "WET" Nitrous Kit-Complete 55-75 HP
They also have the #82023 kit which is 75-125 HP
Although not specifically for a Lightning it comes with absolutely everything you need,
including the fitting for the fuel rail to take in the gasoline, all the lines, wiring, connections,
switch and bottle. (no heater or purge). I bought mine for under $500.00 but that was in 02,
now that they're so popular the same kit is up to $800.00
As seen here
The Zex uses the factory TPS too, so no stupid micro switches or seperate trigger needed, just a switch to arm the system (included)
Zex gets $679.00 for the #82023 Kit

Either way you still need a Plate or have to drill the Upper for the Nozzle,
and I would consider buying that NX kit from CSHEETS if it's in great condition

I checked PSP website and couldn't find Sal's nitrous system listed.

If I do decide to get a kit, I prefer a throttle body plate so I don't have to drill into the plenum. But if the plate is exhorbitant money-wise, I'd reconsider drilling.

Summit shows the item for $589.95, same basic kit Rob was referring to I assume? http://store.summitracing.com/partde...w=1&N=700+150+

Now that's more like

Sal (PSP) just moved his Family and Business to Florida and has set up a new Shop, the site seems to be missing everything it must be under construction ?

You can e-mail him here about his plates

I ended up going with the ZEX kit and it worked fine. Kicked the 335i's *** despite his computer upgrade which made his car go 12.8's at 111 MPH. I probably didn't need to spray, but it was an insurance policy against a bunch of trash talkin.
