Post Hotchkis update

I spoke with several people at Hotchkis today. They are about 60 days away from having their Lightning specific kit done. The complete kit will consist of front and rear springs, front and rear sway bars, and poly urethane bushings. It will give you about a 2/3 drop and much improved handling. I especially like that they are replacing the rear springs instead of just doing shackles. The engineers couldn't/wouldn't give too many specific details as too the handling improvements other than to say both the skid pad and slalom will be greatly improved. I proded for specific numbers but they were tight lipped. As far as pricing goes no numbers yet, other than it would be less than the Rousch kit. They set me up on the e-mail list and promise to keep me updated. I will do the same here if anyone is interested.

Siver-Bolt,

After seeing this post the first time, I myself went to the Hotchkis web site, but failed to see the Lightning specific article.

I'm very interested in this particular setup as well. I've always thought that the rest of the drop kits used here, well just wouldn't work for me. I’ve waited for just the right kit to experiment with, and I would be willing to invest in this one. I knew that Hotchkis made some really nice kits, but it never occurred to me that they would make one for a G2 Lightning, at least not yet.

I appreciate your post here, and await your further information/posts.

Thanks again for the tip.

I feel that I could almost add a smiley face here.

There is not an article on the site about the Lightning kits. They do have part numbers listed for various pieces but not for the kit. My information came from talking to them directly.

Looked hard at the Rousch kit, but for me it was missing some key parts for what I want. I want to make this truck corner extremely well. With just springs and shocks I feel that it would be an improvement, just not to the degree I am looking for. Nothing against the package. In fact I have driven a couple of Rousch trucks and I will be using one for a few weeks while I am in San Diego.

My original plan was for a four link/coil over setup. This unfortunately has been put on hold. My design partner is now under contract with Honda Racing and will be in Japan for at least a year. I can fab it and install it, but need him for the prints.

I will post more as I get new information. Also on the hunt for adjustable shocks to complete the package.

Blacklight,
Thanks for the offer. I am trying to get my partner to send the info via e-mail. Problem is I don't have a program to read the format. Everything has been measured and entered. He was just starting to play with the solids modeling when we got put on hold. I think the Hotchkis will hold me until I get the other figured out.

Need,
Same thing they told me regarding the shocks. They have a custom valving setup that Bilstien was producing for them. They have had major delivery problems so they are exploring other possiblities. I personally am looking for a shock that is adjustable for compression and rebound. Not ready to step up for the Penske's for this phase. $750/ea ouch. Exploring other avenues.

I recieved the same information a few weeks ago. I made the decision to wait for their kit instead of going with Roush or some of the other combos out there. When I talked to them they said they were looking for a suitable shock for their package.
