Question Cobra R & Lightning

Is the Cobra R the same engine as the Lightning engine? I know the Cobra R is a 5.4, but that's pretty much all I know.

Cool

I think the Cobra R is a N/A 32-Valve DOHC 5.4L, similar to the Navigator engine. The L is a supercharged 16-Valve SOHC 5.4L engine similar to the F150 engines.

Yeah, I know about the Lightning engine. I probably stated the question wrong. I wanted to know if the Cobra Rs are supercharged or not? Did they pretty much just take the Triton 5.4? Or did they borrow from the Lincolns?

The Cobra R's are not S/C'd. They have a DOHC engine similar to a Navigator.

Cool

Some info here:

If you have a good internet connection check out the "Cobra R Build" tab. The engine looks pretty tough.

Yeah, they are similar in that they both are 5.4L in displacement. The similarity ends there.

ladeefrigginda....I was simply saying that they are both DOHC. Which is very different than SOHC(Triton). Without writing a book about it. Why don't you park your Van by a library instead of the river.

Hmm, you know, I could be wrong, but isn't Lincoln owned by Ford? I mean, I realize the Cobra motor is being hand built, but other than that, the motors aren't going to differ too much. I mean, crap the motor isn't much different than the SOHC 5.4 motor used in the F150, with the exception of DOHC.

The Cobra R and the Lightning share the same block. The internals are totally different though, and the heads are too.
The Cobra R shares the same heads as the regular 4.6 Cobra, but has a much different intake, and yes the Cobra R is not supercharged.

Seattlesnake is right, only the block is the same. They are both beasts though.
