Post Build quality ?

I have read several posts regarding the build quality of the Lightnings. Some worried that the 7500 trucks for 2001 would lower the quality. Don't these trucks get produced on the same assembly lines as the standard F-150's? No flame intended, just a curious question.

I have no knowledge of how they build the L's, but I would highly doubt that Ford has a totally seperate assembly line and totally seperate assembly line workers to build only 7500 rides/year. Just my opinion. I am not trying to take anything away from the L owners and I wish I owned one myself but the cost factor alone to have a seperate line just seems unrealistic.

The Lightning's are just standard f-150's that svt modifies, just like saleen does to the mustangs. and SVT said that they are not going o be able to meet the 7500 goal anyway.

I live about 2 min away from the truck plant where the f-150's are made. Ford doesn't have a different plant for the "L" their made at the same one as thbe f-150, i see em come out of the line all the time

The Lightnings are mixed in with the reg. F150's. Thor01 went to the factory and watched his be built.

Mid 12's

They are not built anything like saleens. Saleen gets regular Mustang GT's shipped to them in Irvine, CA....where they tear em apart and put all of their custom parts.

Lightnings are built right on the line. They are not first built as an f-150 then later modified to be an SVT.

They don't build S351's anymore...but when they did, they were originally made out of V6 mustangs. Then at some point, I beleive it was in the 95 model year, they switched to GT's. I know mine was built from a GT.

Thanks for the clarification. I hope to have one sitting next to the L in the garage someday.
