Nice list offroad,Thanks for the info. From what I've been told by the Police, the wording in MI law is "NO film" on the front door glass, so if you can find a dark glass any % is legal, they just don't like it. but most say they use a rule of thumb on the film, if you can read your drivers liscence thru the tint they wont write you, cause it's just a repair & report, no fines just paperwork for them

5% here too:

I've used 5% on my vehicles since my very first vehicle, my 1987 f150. NJ law says no tint what so ever on the front side windows (but anything on the rear is ok) I don't care what the law is I'll never take my tint off. Police never bother me, even when pulled over. The one time I got a tint ticked was because the cop was being nice and giving me the cheaper of the fines and letting me off the other ones. It was a fix it ticket, but I just paid the fine online since it was cheaper just to pay it then to remove and reinstall the tint. (BTW, I do all my tint myself)

I've only received one ticket over time for mine too (7 years so far)...the key is being able to pass inspection, which also doesn't usually seem to be an issue.

We have a similar law here in Va. I did get pulled over in my Expy. The trooper used his little tint indicator thing and I was way too dark. He let me off with a warning because he said "it was obvious I did not know about the law". Pretty good acting huh? Oh yea he also took my Glock back to his vehicle and unloaded it for me and put in on the back floor board and told me to reload it at the next exit. He kept the one I had in the chamber. (I do have a concealed carry permit). Actually this happened on the way up to see Mike at Troyer in the mountains.
