93 L's came with a E4ODs them. Any Bronco from 92 up to 96 has one. They can be built to take a lot of HP.

Wow; and all this time, I was under the impression that we are the Secord generation (G II) lightning….

So, in reality there is no Lightning’s (Gen I) in the early 90???

What’s next no Lightning’s for 2010 (G III)???

A sad day indeed!!!!

Lets do our homework. The Gen I Lightnings did come with an E40D tranny.(basically a weaker 4R100) Also the tranny was improved in 94 and even more improved in 95. Both Gen I and II share most of the tranny parts, including the imfamous valve body. Can they be interchanged?? I think the bolt pattern of the tranny to engine is different, but Sal would know that answer. To the best of my knowledge the E40D came with only the Lightnings and the 7.3 PSD's.
