Question OEM Lightning Differential ???

What is the standard differential in the L? Is it the 9.75 with LS like in the regular F150's?

I don't believe it is the same as a regular F150 pickup, but it is a 9.75" rear end. Then again I guess I have never paid attention to the rear end of a normal truck.

From what I've read, it comes right off the shelf from the Expeditions. Could be wrong though..

Thanks for the replies. Lets see what other board members have to say. I am very curious about that. I will try to go to the dealer to check the labels of one of the L's or maybe ask them directly, but in reality sometimes I don't trust them too much.

The standard f150 has an 8.8" ring gear with 31 spline axles, the Lightning has the 9.75" ring gear with 34 spline axles, the same as the f250 light duty and the expedition, the f250 and f350 super duty, single rear wheel uses a 10.5" ring gear and 35 spline axles, for comparison sake the chevy 1500 uses 8.4" woosy gears

Question

One of my concerns here are basically, what is the difference (besides the limited slip that I don't have) between my 9.75 Sterling and the L's 9.75 Sterling?

Cool

HI!... JMTRUCK : The sterling 9.75 in the LIGHTNING and the STERLING 9.75 in the 5.4 equipped regular F-150's are exactly the same. From the SVT engineers and other people that I have talked to about the strength of the 9.75 rearend all say the same thing. It is just as strong as the old FORD 9 inch and can easily handle 500H.P and 500FT/LBS of torque. Some LIGHTNING guys are run slicks and going low 12's with this rearend with no problems yet. Hope this helps you out.
