Question finished the plugs and have questions on what i found

https://www.f150online.com/galleries....cfm?num=15069 thats a link to the album i have a couple questions

1...the rust color on the boots would that be cause of water getting down there and not evaporating

2...what would cause the one plug to be white like that?

3...how do i stop oil from gettin on the threads? what causes that?

4...do the fuel injectors need to be replaced?

5...what is the residue on the coolant cap and coolant filler neck?

HA!

The filler cap...its residue. Some how the coolant broke down and left it. Change the cap and coolant If you want a good piece of mind.

If you just bought it from a dealer, I would make them change those coil packs and at least that one injector..

Is that white plug from the same cylinder as that nast fuel injector?

Trucknut how many miles on the Lightning ??? I'm thinking maybe those are the original plugs those injectors arent exactly looking too new either

Maybe no one's ever done ANYTHING to it and it's time, by the way do you have any kind of wrrnty ? If it runs ok and your happy with it I would go over everything, I would also consider a new set of coils or at least get those checked. Either way I'd check (and flush if needed) the radiator and intercooler, change the oil, filter, gas filter, run some GOOD injector cleaner through it, maybe throw a little 100 octane fuel in it. Even clean the throttle body and maybe consider cleaning the intercooler if your familar with it, and of course change the PCV Valve, check air filter, etc... As for injectors look in the classified's people are always selling stock L injectors cheap and as you see it only takes minutes to swap them.

BEST OF LUCK

thanks rob..no it has no warranty. and hopefully sometime this month i can take eveything out and clean it all....i/c,s/c,tb..etc. i want to put royal purple in the tranny, the rear diff and their purple ice stuff for the radiator/intercooler. i am goin to take it to walmart and have them run there 2 step fuel injection cleaning. it worked great on my old 240sx. i guess i'll add new injectors to the list lol. i need to hurry up and sell my 240 so i can get my L back to normal. oh i forgot it has 106,400 on it. its been from south carolinea to louisiana and now to me in florida. i think the car fax show that it has had 7 owners. but thats ok. i know the tlc i will give it will make it run like it just came off the lot

Oh so the plugs have 100K on them, hell in that case they look good
You'd be surprised how good a set of bad looking injectors can run, do the cleaning and see how it goes, then as you said take care of the rest when you get a chance. I'm sure you will make it look and run as new
