Switching oil
I did a search on switching oil and there is plenty of info on going from regular oil to synthetic, but has anyone gone from synthetic back to regular oil? Any problems with doing that or anything to watch out for if you do?

Yes you can go back to dino oil no problem, just make sure that you change the filter. Every time I get another intercooler Ford puts their stuff back in.
All oil for the most part is all the same. Its job is to simply float between to objects i.e. no object on object contact.
The only real difference between oils is how long it can continue its job before breaking down.
One interesting thing that I've never seen is a comparison for how long synthetic oil last vs. dino oil for the price. I wonder if synthetic oil isn't a waste of money especially if you change it less than 7000 miles. BTW I user Royal Purple so I'm more guilty than most.

My service manager here told me that going from regular to synthetic is no problem. BUT, going from sythetic back to regular IS a problem, due to the seals. The explanation was that the seals get might need to be changed if they are exposed to sythetic over a longer period of time. I am not a mechanic, but I asked the exact same question last week because I also was considering sythetic. They also said that the regular oils of today are much better quality; and that synthetics, other than the extended change times, MIGHT not offer any other advantage. You also have to weigh the cost differences. A synthetic oil change may cost you around $50-$60, vs. the $30 regular oil change.
Rick:
Don't sweat it. You're going in the proper direction. If you were going from reg. oil to synthetic, you'd have to change the filter quickly due to the synthetic loosens up the sludge quick and clogs the filter.
Going from synthetic to regular shouldn't cause any problems. I did it a while ago. Didn't like doing $50.00 oil changes every 3000 miles...
Hey, did you ever use Slick50 or Prolong? Opinions?
