Under 25--First purchase 01 L
Just got word back from the dealer today. The finance department quoted me 12.9% APR. So that comes to $714.00 a month with $4,000 down. The dealer said i have excelent credit, but since i have never bought a car before i can not get a better interest rate. if this is true, i want to know how 16 and 17 year olds on this site can afford their L's.

Check out www.peoplefirst.com. I got 7.69.
The dealer was going to give me 9.25, but got all the way down to 7.74.
Amazing what a little competition will do.

thats B.S. , shop around for the best % rate before you buy we paid 6.99% at a credit union , you said "The dealer said i have excelent credit" if that is true then it doesn't matter what you are buying your good credit will get you the best % rate in your area and i can tell you that here in ohio that is 6.75-8.00 % , credit unions are the best IMO. good luck

Ok ok.,lets get something clear here my "dady" didn't buy my "L" for me. When I first saw the lightning 3 years ago when I was 15 I new one day I would get one, so I started to save all my money for a down payment I had a job.. no it wasn't at Wendy's,(rebuilt dirtbikes for honda) anyways after 2 years of saveing I had about 10G Canadain witch is worth about 2cents in USofA, lol, from their my "daddy" did help me with my insurance thank god he did. So just to let you know that all 17 year old kids aren't all pot somking little punks
never get anything but a vehicle from a dealer. they will get the most from you they can.
my dad got me a 01 black lightning and they wanted him to pay $35,000 for it.
he told the guy he was going to pay cash and only going to pay 31,500 for it. so they guy says he'll call back. later that night he called and said they had a later shipment of trucks coming in and there was a black one and i could get it for 31,500. so.............. no intrest rate. thats the best you can get.

ok. i am shopping around. i went to www.peoplefirst.com as ACoder suggested. They advertised a 7.39% rate. I of course have to wait for them to call me back with an approval. Little side note: I am not bashing anyone that got a little help from their parents. But, I have busted my a$$ since i was 12 (i am currently 21) learning every programming language on this earth so i could have the position that i currently hold at my company. I have worked very hard for my money, and I have worked hard to establish great credit. It really pisses me off when i find out that is not good enough. I must have "car credit". whats next? if i want to buy a boat when im 23 will i need "boat credit"? sheesh. </rant>

I'm one of those 16 year olds with a 01 L. I've been cutting grass and doing odd jobs for about 5 years now. Granted all of the money I made didn't go into the payment of the truck but I did pay the down payment. I wasn't expecting the truck at all. I was looking at a used car at around the 10,000$ range so this was a total shock when my mother told me I could get one. She's paying for the truck and I pay for insurance, gas, and my money paid the down payment. I am extremely grateful to her for this.
times sure have changed. when i was seventeen (1967) my household name was... get wood.
when i turned 18 and graduated from high school (almost didn't) my parents bought me a bus ticket to the navy recruiter's office. thirty years later i retired from the navy. that bus ticket was the best that happened to me.
